I don't own a Sapphire, but I do own the hesalite... And for me, once I saw the milky ring I couldn't unsee it. I knew if I bought it, I'd fixate on the ring everytime I glanced down.
I'm sure you will/have, but try them both on and see if you're ok with it.
Thanks John. I can get it pretty “cheap” on my next trip to London. I like the idea of the additional warmth afforded by the hesalite crystal, but intend to put Omega’s microadjustable clasp on the bracelet (a step in the other direction toward modernity).
This back and forth is what’s got me seeking advice.
(It’ll be a couple weeks before I can get to an AD that has both)
I’ve had a hesalite speedy for about 10 years. Honestly never noticed anything when looking at the dial. But I’d you’re going to get a manually wound watch, make sure you’re good with winding it all the time. I like the old school vibe, but honestly if I had to do it again I’d go with an automatic just for the ease of use.
Right. The hesalite version, as far as I’m aware, only comes as a manually-wound, not automatic, movement. Hence the above comment.

I’d go with hesalite always — nothing beats the vintage look of a plexi, regardless oh the watch’
