I am in the same boat as OP and also an immigrant. Work friends are very transactional and many leave the firm. I also cannot relate to people who think drinking is socializing. I find it very artificial. I went from having many friends to almost none in last decade in the US. Add to it travel.
How have you outgrown them?
Different interests. I’ve never loved drinking so while they continued while the party lifestyle everyday after work with happy hours then clubbing on the weekends, I gradually saw them less since I didn’t want to keep up with those activities
Join groups ( climbing club, biking club, church, etc) where you live.
Make work friends
If you are or become a parent, you will become friends with your kids friends parents
It’s extremely hard when you travel— I will be honest. But maybe volunteer work or church groups are a great way to meet people.
