I’ve seen a lot of people make the jump from audit to FDD/TAS. Has anyone made the jump from tax to FDD/TAS? If so, how?

I have made the jump and although there is a larger learning curve than transferring from audit it is definitely doable. You will have to work a bit harder than everyone else around you but if that’s what you want to do then I would recommend making the jump. If you are already a high performer talk to your relationship coach / partner / mentor and ask to meet with an fdd partner or director to get things moving

I’ve never seen it done, but as SA1 was able to do it, it’s possible. I’d almost think that this would be one of the few instances where an internal transfer may be easier than going to a competitor since you would have already proven how good you are

Have not seen it happen in my 5 years in FDD. What level are you in tax ? A lot of FDD is dependent on an understanding of the practicalities of financial reporting that you pick up in audit and don’t really get exposure to in tax roles. No interest in transaction tax roles?

I am considering an opportunity at Deloitte in the Specialist track. I am trying to figure out what level I should be looking at. Can anyone share with me the differences between the levels of Specialist Senior (I think that is the term), Specialist Master and Specialist Leader? Are their higher levels? I am looking for the specific criteria and metrics for each level. DM me if you don't want to display publicly. I think I might be close to or above the SpL level but not sure.

Partners or whomever can help me understand about billing and hours. To keep things simple, let’s say you only have one staff to work 1,700 billable hours a year on a $60k salary and you have only one job that and the rate charged to the client is $300/hour and an projected hours budget of 1,700 hours. So ideally you would have revenue of $510k. If the staff takes less time partners make less money and if they take more time partners make more money while the staff keeps the same salary?

Which offer should I accept? Currently staff 2 at big 4 in Tax with CPA license. I want to leave tax ASAP. Both are public companies +1B in revenue and same salary. Offer 1 - staff revenue accountant so reading contracts, speaking with the sales team and legal team, a lot of work at the end of the months to close books and reconcile transactions to make sure we are ASC 606 compliant. This track usually leads to director of revenue. Offer 2 - internal audit staff so SOX and compliance projects.

I started at a new firm this year in January. I had a billable goal that was given to me mid year of around 1750 house for the year. I am nowhere near that and definitely will not meet the goal. I had so many non billable hours I was forced to take when I first came in. I worked my ass off in busy season. At my previous firm I never fell short of hours as it was B4. This firm is mid sized and more focused on WLB. My question is how bad do you think this will affect my comp??

How do you not care / stress way too much about your job? I am a mom and stressed out most workday evenings thinking about the work / interactions during the day.
