I think the best thing to do is to give yourself a chance to try another industry, if you are not comfortable working in customer service.
Aiming for a promotion at your current call center would likely be your best bet. However, if you feel that you have exhausted all possibilities for advancement at your current call center, then it may be time to explore other industries.
I would aim for a promotion. A career in a call center can be rewarding, but it can also be tedious and repetitive. A promotion can give you new challenges and responsibilities, which can help break up the monotony of your work.
I think you're the first person I have ever heard describe working in a call center as rewarding.
Promotions are important in any industry, but if you feel like you would be happier in a different industry, it may be time to make a change. Talk to your supervisor about your goals and see if there are any other opportunities within the company that may be a better fit for you. If not, start exploring other options outside of your current company. There are plenty of opportunities out there, so don't be afraid to explore them all!
If another industry is an option for you, I would do it. Or better yet, go for a promotion while looking for something else you're better suited for. I spent 2 years on the phones before quitting and I'm so much happier.
