Hello Everyone! Does anyone have a connection at Netflix ! I am an author/marketing associate and truly my dream job is to work on the team that creates/produces Drive to Survive. I am a huge F1 fan! However, I am willing to start where I can and work my way there! I was laid off due to Covid and just trying to get back into the field and industry I love.
Looking for a writer.

I think this is more common than people like to admit. I actually think the nervousness it brings helps me to keep pushing, but it’s also important to remember that I didn’t get to where i am as a fluke, I’m actually good at what I do and my choices are worth defending.
Exactly! Thanks.
I’m looking up some yoga videos for myself and just saw these two so thought I’d share:

The thing is...there ARE imposters in this industry!
Not the fish posting in this thread, mind you.
But there are people who make their way up by political maneuvering and riding the coattails of others.
Political acumen has its place in advertising (accounts), but some don’t have ideas or talent to go with it.
One of the things can be disheartening in the advertising business is that the hierarchy of decision-makers seems arbitrary (certainly not completely merit based) especially when so much of it is subjective.
You go ahead. I’ll ride your coattails and then take all the credit.
Don’t ignore it; that’s not the answer you are looking for if you need change. You have to deal with it, effectively. Same with anyone who has it. You can’t isolate it as if it is only a work-related thing. It is there due to a complex structure of interrelated stuff that has been building up since your childhood and it is deeply related to every facet of your life. Thing of it as a distorted glass in front of your vision that prevents you from seeing the world as it really is. Only therapy, a new chain of meanings, and huge shifts in your values will help you deal with it. Also, never forget that you feeling like an imposter is someone else’s profit, literally. Insecurity is one of the many ways the system is milking money out of you.
Same! Built my career on the back of just knowing I have good taste and hoping other people agree, seems to have worked out for me so far. I find that the current work culture in a lot of my recent jobs is more flexible when it comes to asking for feedback and seeking other opinions, so don't feel like you have to be a flawless expert. Checking blindspots is a sign of strength and growth.
