I’ve worked at some of the big, old-school (emphasis on “old”) agencies: JWT, Y&R, Grey. Question: on my resume or when mentioning agency experience on my portfolio site, should I update these to their new incarnations (Wunderman Thompson, VMLY&R, AKQA Group), even if I never worked for them under these names?

I would use the name it had while you were there. Usually those are better known anyway.

Eh, I mean the years you worked there are going to be the same anyway, right? I wouldn’t overthink the name.

^ I was going to suggest this as well!

I’d use the OG names. The people you will want to know will know, and those that don’t can google it.

Good feedback. Solid rationale and explanation of your opinions. I’ll stick with the original names. Thanks, fishes!

I think the current name is totally fine. Or former name (now current name) is fine, too

I agree with Director 1. I’d stick with Agency A or Agency A, now Agency B. Avoid listing it simply as Agency B unless you’ve worked for either of those agencies after their mergers.

I’m starting at Grey on Monday and I’ll be adding “Grey New York” to my resume. If I’m still around whenever it becomes AKQA Group, I’ll just add that when the change is official.

I accepted a new job, they said PTO was “generous.” I find out it’s 19 days a year of PTO (which includes sick days). I have two young children and we like to vacation 1-2x a year (no more than a few days away each time). Am I crazy that this is pretty limited time off? 8 of the normal holidays off during the year (working the week between Christmas and NYE). Thoughts? I dont know if lack of PTO is a good reason to back out, is it?

I planned to travel internationally in December. It’s for a family matter that is personal. I am worried a bit about Corona risk. Now I see a potential VACCINE is available, maybe. Do you think I will be able to get it before I leave? How would I do it? Pfizer said they’d have 50M doses made in 2020.
