I’ve worked in child welfare for over a year now. I go above and beyond to keep families together. By any means necessary. I recently had my 2nd child and I’m dreading going back to work. It’s depressing and has really effected my mental health. I recently gave birth to my 2nd child. Postpartum is hitting hard and the thought of going back to working on cases of child abuse is depressing. I don’t think I can handle it any longer. Any advice on career transition? Wfh/ hybrid opportunities?

I completely understand and feel you should look out for your mental health first and foremost. Have you thought about a career in Community Action? You would be able to assist families in your community without being integrated into their lives.

I will look into it. Thank you!

Job hunting is just…exhausting and discouraging. And every time I log onto LinkedIn and see some other company has done layoffs I’m even further discouraged knowing I’m up against these folks now, too. I took a few months off after my daughter was born and it feels like now is the worst time to be back on the job hunt. I’ve been told I’m overqualified, positions taken down bc of hiring freezes and ghosted…ugh I’m just going to hang with my baby for the week and try hit refresh.

I think an online branding / stlylist consultant could help me look more mature. Eg what frame style / color glasses, hair style, clothing.

Any recommendations or experiences?

How do you handle handoff/transition before going on maternity leave? I will be going on maternity leave in 3 months and need to put together a transition plan so that someone can take care of my work while I am out. I want to make sure nothing falls through the crack but at the same time don’t want to train someone to do 100% of my job - that would make my role redundant if someone can just take over right? Plus the company is going through restructuring now too. How would you handle this?

Does anyone take day dates with their spouse/partner? By the time I get to bed, even on the weekends, I’m spent. I wonder if it would be more enjoyable to spend that time together during the day. We both work incredibly hard and are successful, but honestly I’m more the YOLO type and he probably would find it ridiculous to take this time off work. Has anyone found some enjoyment/benefit to spending time with your spouse like this?

I’m going back to my project which was was very demanding/stressful so I’m having a little anxiety about returning to that specific project. I would love any tips/advice for setting boundaries and being able to balance work with parenting. I’ve already blocked off my calendar for daycare dropoff & pickups.

My 6mo baby started daycare 3 weeks ago. We raised concerns about the frequency of feedings during the day (she was going for 5 hours without getting a bottle). The teachers assured us that would not happen again. Today I noticed she’s went for 5 hours without being fed. I cried so much and I just can’t sit here and eat knowing she’s not eating. I am hesitating calling again because I don’t want to be that parent and potentially create a hostile environment for my baby. I just don’t know wtd 😭😭😭

Mamas, how much do you spend on gifts for other kids/toddlers birthday parties? We just started our 3 year old in daycare/preschool and there’s a birthday party all the time it seems. For good friends we spend around $50-$100 for their kids gifts but it’s starting to add up, especially for classmates my kid doesn’t know too well. What’s your average?

Moms of fishbowl - what is the best bottle warmer and sterilizer? I’m due in February, planning to do a combination of breast milk and formula (to ensure baby gets all his nutrients one way or another). We bought the baby brezza advanced with WiFi for formula, so more focused on a warmer + sterilizer combo thatll work for breast milk (and specifically thawing breast milk too). Seems there aren’t as many options for combo products with sanitizer, so maybe I’m asking for too much. Suggestions?
