EY GDS - Is below statement is common across all offer letters. Since I didn't discussed anything on shift hours with either HR or interview panel in EY ?
Additionally, as mentioned in your interview process, the Firm may implement staggered work shifts, from time to time. In such an event, you shall abide by the change in the standard working hours as may be notified by the Firm to accommodate such staggered shifts.

Deloitte question. I have always gotten a raise each year, the only question I ask is how much of a raise do I get. But I’m hearing from former Deloitte folks, it is naive to expect annual raises each year however small/big they are? And how does this play in Deloitte consulting vs advisory? Do one tend to withhold annual raises in base salary over the other, or is this just a deloitte culture thing? Looking at exit opportunities all over. So lmk! I’d Rather get a small raise than none at all.

D1 my sincerest apologies if my request for you to explain your thought process seemed like a personal attack.
In the spirit of unsolicited advice: invalidating the significance someone's experiences under the guise of advising them is a hostile act. Or ignorant, at best.
I wish you well.
HAH this is absolutely true, have gotten this maybe ~15 times in my last 2.5 years in consulting. Love the nay sayer telling me I'm making it up. I wear business casual but doesn't help that I'm blonde. Note flight attendants, hotel workers and some waitresses also wear business casual. Some examples: I arrive at hotel and worker checking me in ask if I'm a flight attendant (x3 times - SF, Atlanta, Detroit), I get up from dinner to go to the bathroom and family/man asks me to seat them at a table (x2), even in New Orleans throwing out beads and 2 guys are convinced a work for the restaurant
Compare that to the women who face actual hardships every day
@D1 you're gonna have a loooong day if you respond to every IWD post with that
Like having to do the laundry
D1 is there a reason you feel a need to be hostile toward a woman sharing something that bothers her?
When is International Men's Day? Need to remember so I can make a thread about it
It wasn't hostility, just advice to get some perspective.. maybe lost over text.. I'm going to go make a difference now, you can do the same or keep attacking people on fishbowl. Have a great day
Sounds like P1 is more of the problem then the solution..
@D3 30 years ago, women mostly worked low-paid jobs in education, healthcare, and customer service because they were largely shut out of other career options. Flight attendants are awesome, and their jobs are grueling. I'm offended because people assume that if I'm at an airport dressed nicely, I must fit into the one stereotypically female profession associated with being at an airport regularly.
Let's not get distracted from those who aren't privileged and actually need our help please
I really didn't expect to spark this much discussion. 1. I definitely didn't make this up. Have been mistaken for a secretary by a partner and a manager. Have been mistaken for a flight attendant while at the airport 2. I am aware that, overall, I live a pretty privileged life. I am lucky enough to be respected by the majority of men I work with, and I do not face some of the issues that women of lower socioeconomic levels face. As part of my IWD celebration, I plan on loaning money through Kiva to female entrepreneurs.
@D3 it disheartening to know that when seeing a woman in business clothes in an airport, the first thought is "she must be a flight attendant." Not "she must be a business traveler, like every other man in a suit in this airport."
Also the fact that you're offended that you'd be mistaken for a flight attendant or restaurant worker is pretty offensive to people in those groups
PwC OP -- this convo, dang!!! But I'm right there with you. I am ALWAYS mistaken for a flight attendant. ☺ Get asked for my badge number all the time when checking in... people have even clapped when I walked up to the gate cause they thought I was the last crew member needed to take off. The other one I love is: "Oh you must be in marketing." -- when I say I work for PwC. People are always surprised when I explain I'm in consulting and travel for work.
P3... how? What the duck are you wearing? Been traveling for 5 years and have never gotten that
I've also never gotten secretary or flight attendant for that matter, I feel like some of you just make stuff up.
Is being mistaken for a flight attendant somehow offensive or oppressive?
D3 When it's with an implicit, "you must be a flight attendant because how would you ever be in first class otherwise"... Which is sometimes, but not always, how it's delivered.
You're reading waayyy too much into it. Also to be honest, the underlying assumption here seems to be that flight attendants are somehow 'less'. Do you feel you are somehow better than them? What is wrong with flight attendants, or restaurant workers? All the interactions described above are based on what people can see at first glance (they haven't talked to you at all), so agreeing that flight attendants etc. are often impeccably dressed (and on average, pretty!), why the heck are you offended? If this messes up your mood, your life must be pretty darn great.
