Appreciate the sentiment of the post but here's the thing: change starts with men. WE are doing enough. We kick ass at our jobs. We "show then we're with it" all the time. But it's not on us. It's on the men to treat us as equals. For example, I see this low key sexism every single day: men cut women off. Men don't listen to women when they speak as intensely as they do when other men speak. Every woman in creative has had to deal with having a man take credit for her idea because he said it louder. THAT'S what's really holding us down.
Hmmm this feels like the equivalent of being like "poor people should just work harder!" I don't feel "held back" or like I'm not where I should be... But I do feel that to get here, I've had to face added challenges male peers don't or can't always appreciate. That's kind of the point.
@CW1 & R/GA1 - I just wanted to pop in and say I genuinely love both of your replies. You're really showing them what you're worth it. ;)
RGA 1, exactly. It's the little things. After a big sprint on a pitch where my AD and I (AD was under me at the time/male), the president of the company came over and shook his hand, but gave me a fleeting 'thanks (wrong name)' as he walked out the door to me. Same work. Same project.
