^Good idea, M2! Hi! I'm single, childless, and went to tier 1 schools UG and MBA. I live in a major city. Can I have 25k extra? Oh, wait! I know for a fact the guys on my team make way more than I do! But your wife makes more than you do, OP, so I guess there's no wage gap here. Nothing to see! Keep moving along! Equality has been achieved bc OP's experience is the universal experience!
Okay OP, apples to apples. What do I say to my mentee who at her internship came across documentation that showed all female interns making on average $2 less than the male interns? All from the same top 20 public university with the same major. Honestly asking your thoughts are then?
Your 1 experience must be reflective of everyone else's! Jesus no wonder your wife makes more.
Clearly she married down.
Ok great thanks for the childless facts. Now take that and compare it to the percentage of women who are held back in their career to start a family vs those of men who do the same.
Women are doing better but to say women are doing better than men at the same level and same personal situation is a bullsh*t claim.
Op- just shut up
Wrap it up folks, gender inequality has been solved with OPs wife
OP, does that data point look at the salaries of childless single women compared to childless single men? If it doesn't then you can't take away much from it.
In my case it's one data point but the subsequent points hold more broadly. Single childless women in the top 150 cities make 8% more than men according to research using American community survey (census) data
Careful or she might start coaching you out.
Men have been underperforming forever.
Adding children changes the comparison. The general statement that women make less than men is a pretty useless talking pt. Apples to apples women are doing better. Children add complexity including a skewed burden on women typically so we have to distinguish.
this fuckin' guy
I agree, although an example of one data point doesn't prove the point.
P1, if a person, male or female, leaves the workforce for 10 years to raise a family, are you saying they should come back and not have that 10 year work gap be considered since they left for such a cause?
She did make me a sandwich today and I love her dearly. She kicks ass.
Hi! I'm single, childless and have more degrees than you and your wife combined (7 and counting). Where is my 25K extra?
Op, based on the logic used in your original post I couldn't staff you.
M2 have you heard of decreasing marginal returns? 7 degrees hurts you more than it helps you if you had to spend additional years out of the workforce. No wonder you're underpaid
I cite some info and u say shut up? Shouldn't we worry men underperforming in college at some point?
