Never tried this but I don’t think those are the best people to reach out to as a lateral candidate for informational interviews. The recruiting team is general for the whole firm, they generally don’t have a deep understanding of what the firm is looking for in particular sub-groups. I’d reach out to attorneys in your preferred practice group (any attorneys you’ve worked across from or alumni from your school are a good place to start), you’ll probably have more luck that way, attorneys’ word carries more weight, and if it’s an associate, they can get a referral bonus for referring you if you get hired.

This. Reach out to people, not firms.

Agreed with the above. Connect with people at specific firms or in specific practice areas. Over the last year or so I was trying to change practice areas. I connected with various people on LinkedIn and also people who went to my alma mater who worked in that area or may have other relevant insights to ask if they had suggestions as to how I could get into that field (e.g. groups I could join, CLEs I could take, pro bono programs in which I could participate, etc.) I think it helped to frame it in a way of “ what can I do to get into this?” rather than “can you help me find a job?”
