I’ve been interviewing with a firm in another state that mentioned they might prefer to hire me on a “contract basis” until I’ve passed the bar in that state before giving me the permanent position. I’m still not totally sure what a “contract basis” means, though. Does anyone have any experience or insight on that?

Any moms at kpmg take maternity leave around the time when a salary increase should be taking place (e.g. start your leave mid-september when comp increases is expect in October)? Is it worth pushing off those 4 STD weeks before the due date to get yourself the new salary before going on leave? Any other ways to get the higher salary while on leave? Does it take effect if youre using pto and not the parental leave (maybe save your primary parental leave for a day later or something)?

Im a third year that applied for an L&E position with an AM100 firm. Didn’t graduate from a top 100 law school but I’ve had great experience working at top firms. Im requesting that I only come in to the office 2 days per week and do remote the remainder of the week (so I don’t have to move to the city and can just commute in those 2 days). Odds that I get the job?

What do you all do once you hit hours and want to coast (or just not work at all) for the rest of the year? I recently took vacation so feel weird taking another back to back, and my existing matters are still busy. Should I just do it? Could probably take 3 weeks completely off and still hit hours.
