Joining Strategy&/PwC soon but have a pre planned vacation. Recruiter had mentioned that it shouldn't be a problem and we can talk as we get closer to joining date to finalize. Has anyone been in the situation before and what do you recommend I do? I'm worried that once onboarded, I won't get my vacation approved

Would have worked if I wasn't an international, didn't have international travel planned and the US didn't have a travel ban!

Your deployment consultant speaks with you during your first week. Make sure to say it again in that meeting and to remind ppl each chance you get. It shouldn’t be an issue.

How many PTO/Vacation days do you usually take off a year if your employer offers unlimited PTO/Vacation days?

I just started a new job and this is the first time I’ve ran into this. It sounds nice but at the same time I hate the lack of direction. Help!

Just recieved a offer from Western Alliance Bank for a Senior Business Analyst role. Comp 100k but the role would be in office. I currently work remote, have unlimited PTO,and a really healthy work life balance but am being underpaid tremendously. The new role seems like it does not have healthy work life balance and many red flags have already come up. I want to grow my skills and wouldn't mind being in office as I do miss being around people. How do I vet the role before accepting?

I’ve just been offered a position at a new company. Very excited about it, but I just found out I’m pregnant. I 100% know I want to take at least 8-12weeks post delivery. The new job does not offer maternity leave nor do I think I would qualify for FMLA yet. Do I tell them I’m pregnant and to approve my leave BEFORE I accept the position?

Thoughts on asking for a voluntary layoff (which I assume will help transition my role to someone new)? I’m severely burnt out and think I want to switch careers. I am not wealthy, but money isn’t an issue (I would be fine not working for the next year +). My mental health is suffering and I can’t can’t bring myself to focus on work. Like at all. I want to take some time off and think about what’s next. Has anyone done this? Any advice?

My Woman-owned Agency’s maternity leave went away when the pandemic hit. When my husband and I began discussing starting a family I spoke to HR and was verbally told it would come back, not to worry. Months later, other benefits have returned but not this one. I just found out I’m pregnant and really want to know if I’ll get leave and for how long. When should I bring this up again? Anyone else share my frustration with an agency promoting being woman-owned but lacking paid leave?

My wife is in sales at Mercedes and she has been averaging $200k a year and growing YoY. She loves her job, however she works long days and barely gets time off. We plan on having kids within the next year or two, and it’s highly u likely that she’ll be able to keep her current gig. We want to find a career that allows her to work remote or that at least gives her a better work life balance so that she can see her kids grow up. Should she get certifications to give her a shot at adtech?Too late?

For maternity leave (specific to EY but feel free to answer for other firms) - if you take the two weeks before your due date and your baby arrives after your due date, does your leave start on your due date (despite no birth yet) or are you supposed to return to work until baby arrives? How does that work?

I need to make a decision by tomorrow:
Current base salary: $55k
Current bonus: 10.5% (~$5k)
Vacation: 2 weeks
*been with company for 4 years. Started as a product data analyst out of school.

New offer base salary: $90k
Bonus: 12% (~11k)
Vacation: 3 weeks

Counter offer: $80k
Bonus: 14% (~11k)
Vacation: 3 weeks

The new offer would require significantly more travel. I have a young family and value time at home. My heart is telling my to take the counter offer from my company.

Very early in my pregnancy and I know my job is a dead end.

Any idea what the average tenure requirement for mat leave is at agencies? My current agency is 6 months. Is that standard?

Will people do the math if I get a new job and know I was pregnant when I got hired?

I’m currently interviewing but wondering if it’s going to reflect poorly on me at a new job if they realize i was already pregnant when I accepted the job.

Need advice:

I'm debating between a Deloitte USDC role as a Software Engineer for 100k + 5k bonus and a small but established private company for 110k, which is fully remote with no expectation that I have to move at some point. Health/Dental/Vision, 401k and PTO are pretty similar. I'm an experienced hire with ~5 years of relevant background and currently work on a small, independent team at a large aerospace company, so either job is going to be a bit different than what I know.

If all the top consulting firms made anonymous decks or gave anonymous pitches to a client, eg no branding and the client did not know which firm made which deck, do you actually think that the client would prefer MBB? Is MBB actually coming up with better/more innovative solutions? I feel like I see many repeat or slightly altered solutions on almost all of my cases, are these really things that people at Deloitte/Accenture etc aren’t coming up with?
