There are Tiers per level / group typically, in my company there are 4, and as long as both of you are in Tier 2-3 they won’t adjust one vs another. And depending on CCs arguing more strongly for one or another then yes plausible that one pulls away. Firms only really “fix” comp (eventually) if someone is below Tier 1, or if they see they are Tier 1 and performing well they may give a bigger raise. If your Tier 4, regardless of performance you may not even get a raise. Esp if you are not C&M, but even then could be zero or minimal. Generalized statements as of course diff companies or groups can be diff but generally that is what I have seen.
Depends on the salary model for your company
Trying to see if the firm recognizes the pay discrepancy and begins to balance everyone..(given ppl that are same exp, same work category, and same performance)
We look at parity and market value proactively on a quarterly basis. Merit and performance go a long way as well. Time is an illusion.
Yea depends on how the firm handles compensation
Ahh very thorough answer SM1 Thank you!
Really varies by firm - at OW the gap would completely disappear.
Our comp is fixed for each year-end performance outcome. Total comp for the year is determined by your year-end rating, regardless of the level at which you started the year.
At BCG both would start with same base salary and would stay that way. Only variable is bonus but that is also equal for equal performance.
