Oh also responsibilities for different roles can vary by department too. In some departments associates manage teams of analysts whereas in others they are just there to provide guidance but aren’t managers. If you’re looking for a job there I would also try to figure out how long people have been there and promotion timeline. From personal experience the department I worked in which had associates managing teams did not provide opportunity for career growth because you had to wait for the associate to step down. Keep in mind the associate is equivalent to a senior consultant. Therefore most analysts would leave the department. However there was one that waited 9 years before he left and became a manager at the big 4. So if you can try to look into that. And just add my final comment in terms of role equivalence to public accounting it’s Consultant = analyst/specialist Senior consultant = associate Manager = VP Senior Manager =ED Director = MD
