It means your CD is a Taylor Swift fan.
Came here to say the same thing 😊

Context is everything. Were the two of you just talking about a guy who jumped into a lion’s den at the zoo or what?

I would ask for clarity lol. A big part of growing up as a creative is being okay with sounding dumb and pushing your CD to explain themselves more clearly.
Also your CD doesn’t sound very good. At all.

How do you know? By that one thing he said? 😮
basically means fuck around, find out. but what's the context?
Basically just means “I told you so”
CD8 is more in line with the actual meaning.

I don’t know the full context of why…so I’m hoping they were just complaining about the project itself or the AEs or the client. Because I mean…it wouldn’t be a cool way to criticize a junior.
If you don’t know what the term means - it’s the kind of thing you’d say if your friend skateboarded down a flight of stairs and got wacked in the crotch on the railing. They played a stupid game…and they got a stupid prize.
I have never heard this. Google says it means, “Proverb. (humorous) If one makes poor decisions one should expect negative consequences.” Without context we can’t judge what it means. Was it about a client decision or yours? If the latter, definitely not constructive criticism.
I think they’re referring to Dave and busters

...ok I decided to ask them (though it felt uncomfortable asking). I had sent a pitch deck they asked for but I sent as pdf (so file size isn't huge) but they said the embedded reference clips didn't play in pdf. My mistake. Lesson learned. 😬

That’s fair. I am not bothered by this type of feedback. The CD wasn’t happy with something and gave a remark, OP didn’t understand so he asked what it meant and they got an answer. That seems like a perfectly fine grown-up interaction to me. I would even add that the CD didn’t take OP as a little child, which is nice. grown-ups can take a little bit of bluntness. 👍🏻
It usually means they are d!ck heads
I have never ever criticized any of my juniors even though they made biggest mistakes.
I remember my CD who took me under her wings and made me a stronger person who can further manage people
Fast forward - 3 years, I left that team we still have a whatsapp group and we still discuss great creatives and meet. 🙂
Always, ALWAYS try to think what if you were in their shoes.
Not cool what your CD has done.
They made you anxious and restless for sometime and this could have been simply avoided by a quick 10 min conversation 🙂
Wow…were they referring to something someone personally did, or the team as whole, a project, or themselves? Need more context. I’m a CD and honestly I’d never say that. There’s more constructive ways to provide feedback and criticism. They perhaps sound a bit jaded, burned out, or just maybe a bad manager. (Communication wise) I don’t want to assume but it depends on the whole conversation.
Person or persons got what they deserved. They got what was coming to them. It was a bad move, etc

He means that you did something stupid and you are now paying the price for that.
I would ask, what’s the prize? And when will I receive it?
Lol yeah, it means your CD is a petty drama queen. Do as much time there as you need to find a job with a better boss.
I don’t take this as a “fuck off”; “you’re stupid” or “told you so”. Even if they meant it as a slight; I wouldn’t take it as such. I think the phrase is on par with “Do mediocre work, expect mediocre results”. Which is a true statement and I think it’s something that we all should consider when working in any profession. If you want to be set apart from most people; then you need to be willing to do what most people are not.
