Just a question, maybe more of a vent, but I have been a paralegal for almost 6 years and worked in 3 different law firms and there is always 1 partner that just doesn’t want to do any work but also doesn’t want to retire. And I have always been the main/only paralegal for them. They are always confused about how to practice, don’t remember or just avoid the work. I have no idea how to manage them and get my work done. Any tips?

Hi, paralegal in immigration here. What I do with a similar situation is schedule myself in his calendar for an hour long apt and sit there to go over what I have done and need him to do. I also emphasize that the client wants a response or an in person apt with them and that usually helps move the case along.

like

Thanks. That’s a great idea!

What size law firms are you working for? I would say that this likely wouldn’t be tolerated where I am. Yes, they are a partner so they should have some autonomy to do what they want but if they’re no longer bringing in money they’re likely dead weight.

Is there an easy/efficient way to figure out how much you've contributed to vs earned in your Roth accounts? I started contributing >20 years ago to my employer's Roth 401k and have rolled it over to a Roth IRA and moved it between multiple custodians, e.g. Fidelity, Vanguard, UBS, Personal Capital, etc. It is unclear to me how much I contributed vs how much I earned by investing it.

The purpose of doing this is I want to use $10K of it, but want to prove that the $10K is from my contribution.

Hi guys 👋🏻👋🏻
I am filling the onboarding form for my next company IBM where they have asked 2 questions:
1)Were you earlier a member of Employee's provident fund scheme, 1952?
2) Were you earlier a member of Employee's pension scheme, 1995?

All I know is PF and EPS amounts were deducted from my salary in my previous company but how to know if I am a member of these two mentioned schemes?

Thanks in advance for your inputs guys 🙌🏻

I’ve been working as a Paralegal a little over two months…and I don’t like it. This is not to say I don’t like being a paralegal (I love it), but I don’t understand how work at this firm is not distributed properly. How are attorneys giving legal assistants billable work? Also, it’s very frustrating to work in an environment that’s very inconsistent. They say “ask questions”, but what do you do when everyone’s answer is different. I’m just trying to figure out protocol, but it seems nonexistent.
