I’m Have been an RN for three years. I have worked in the prison system for over two years. I recently applied and was offered a job in the ICU/CCU. Which I would love to try this new adventure. I like to look at pros and cons. Pros of the Prison my boss recognizes my hard work, I have great pay, and a great schedule. Cons-there is at times unequal distribution of duties, some bad attitudes with some of the staff. PPE is not always easy access, who knows who. What’s your thoughts?

Recommendations on travel plans for s/o thirtieth birthday? Have around 4 days and we are on the west coast. Needed some recommendations regarding a visa issue I'm facing.
I need to travel to Belgium in late June for client meetings and therefore need a Schengen. Ideally I'd apply for a business visa through the Belgian consulate. However the earliest appointment isn't for another 10 days and processing time is 3 weeks so I'm worried about receiving it in time. Are there any other routes I should explore?

I've been following Coforge LinkedIn page, and I have decent offer from them. In one call HR said we will be moving towards 5 days work from Office, to which I said I don't mind. Any insight into what NY Biglaw counsel positions pay? I imagine it varies but I think my firm may be majorly lowballing with basically just senior associate salary. When do partners decide when an associate is good enough to make partner? I’m a senior and it is extremely clear to me when an associate has it or doesn’t, and moreover it doesn’t take eight years to figure it out; it takes just one or two matters for me to know if they’re adding value or are ultimately just a commodity. It’s hard for me to avoid the conclusion that associates are largely being strung along by partners who are going to can them at some point, long after that decision is made.

I’m a 3rd year in biglaw, worked out of the NYC office before wfh. Went on vaca to Miami recently and absolutely loved it... thinking of moving there. My firm has an office in Miami too. Few Qs: 1) are big firms typically ok with office transfers? (I heard I have a good rep with the seniors and partners). 2) is it easy to just change your address in workday to FL so that income taxes are not deducted? Obviously I’ll have to work with an accountant for end of year taxes and such. Cont’d below...

My firm reimburses for two bar association memberships, but are any actually worth joining? I don't really need CLEs but would be down for good networking / social opportunities (if they exist)

A quick word of warning regarding a particular recruiting pitch making the rounds.

Talking with attorneys this week, I've been informed of multiple recruiting calls pitching an opportunity at a certain NY quant fund (I'd rather not mention by name as this is in no way their fault, and they don't deserve to be tarnished). In speaking with our contacts at the quant, I can say unequivocally that this position does not exist.

While the 'bait and switch" is not a new tactic, please be wary.

For those who made the jump from biglaw to midlaw, how long did the recruiting process take? I just started interviewing last week and have a ton more interviews this week, and I’m already exhausted balancing that with a current busy workload. And how many firms did folks apply to/approx how many interviews did you do in total? Trying to get a sense of how long this process is for people.
