What good, and bad comes out of corporate lobbying in the US?

I've seen how it can shape some policies at a a federal level, but haven't done much research at the lower levels. All input is welcome. 🙂

I have a full time remote position and currently interviewing for another remote role that requires some travel for on-site visits (I'm ok with this). I feel like the other company will make me an offer and I'm stuck on what to do. It would be about a 20% increase but I'm sure it will be more stressful, given that it involves internal auditing. I have an offer to a commercial real estate company in hand. My current brokerage (residential focus) wants me to pay $3000 penalty since I’m breaking the contract and leaving. I’m financially struggling and 3k is a big number to pay now. The new job will be paying me $2000/month up until the first year only.
