Just another day in America with this lovely administration.

That’s adults willfully accepting the deaths of children, equal to:

1,228x Columbine’s,
867x Stoneman Douglas’,
567x Sandy Hook’s,
460x Virginia Tech’s,
6x US War in Afghanistan
5x 9/11 Attacks
3.25x US War in Iraq

likeupliftingsmart

No one is “accepting the deaths of children” anymore than someone who advocates for keeping speed limits on freeways at 70 mph when lowering to 30 mph would unquestionably save lives each year. Or banning all air travel because people die from plane accidents each year too, and these could be avoided if we just stopped flying. Characterizing the other side as willful murderers over what is really a policy disagreement is everything wrong with public discourse today.

like

I am very liberal and this post is a huge over simplification. You can’t focus on deaths without acknowledging the impact of forcing kids to do remote learning for a year, which means up to 20% won’t even log on (no laptop, no parents able to afford childcare or stay home to make sure their 6 yr old watches zoom all day). It’s not clear what the right answer is but you can’t ignore the reality that this could also permanently damage millions of lower income kids, which could also result in measurable physical harm on a far greater scale

Think of the mental health of teachers and students having to go to school and fear getting sick.

So your saying 73,700,000 students in the US will be infected? There's only 56 million K to 12 students in the US. You posting this shows your stupidity more than the original poster.

likesmartfunny

VP1 - Cool, so can people with no kids be exempt from paying taxes that go into implementing social distancing measures in schools, paying teacher’s insurance if they get sick etc?

Because the whole point of United States was that we wouldn’t be taxed without representation and part of that representation includes having a voice and how our money is spent.

As long as it’s not yours or yours or your kid right?

God I can’t wait till nov....

A concerning issue is right here on this post, EY1 doesn’t seem to have problem with children dying, (likely others here as well), and they work in the same field we do....

It sucks when ‘fake news’ is actually fake. But yikes... people really don’t even care.

like

D2, the concerning issue is people could give some bullshit fake information and if you don't agree with it they cast you as a bad person.

The schools provide a choice. In class or tele school. I am guessing 99% of people who think in school learning is a bad idea does not have kids. I would guess most the negative posts on this thread are from people without kids

I have 2 children, and they will be in school. I have 100s of friends with kids, so far everyone I have spoken to is sending them to school in the fall.

like

PWC2: I am glad you have a homeschool option that works well for you.

The decision really comes down to risk tolerance. My daughter also competes in a couple extreme sports, so I personally don’t have any concerns about school this fall.

The individual who tweeted this even knew DeVos didn’t say that, but it didn’t matter to him either.

You’re also saying no students would die from any other causes? Any death sucks but stop trying to spin the story out of context

like

The CDC estimates 12,175 children age 19 and under die each year due to sports injuries. These deaths are preventable as well. So what are we supposed to do, stop all sports too? In my opinion, schools should reopen for those parents who need it and otherwise have no choice (i.e. both parents are working, kids rely on school lunches for their meals - situations like that). And those who do not want to send their child back to school should homeschool them and not expose them. Or maybe if half are choosing to go/half choosing to stay home, then one teacher can do the in class learning one can do the online. I just don’t think there should be an all or nothing outcome since there are clearly two distinct sides when it comes to sending them back/ keeping them home.

Education, school openings, closings, scheduling era doesn’t fall under the powers granted to the Federal government. Where are the neocons on protecting State’s Rights or is that just lip service as well?

like

Honestly, the Federal government doesn’t get to leave the states to their own devices when it comes to combating the virus but insert themselves when it comes to schools

I’m watching this interview now....she’s so f**** I’ll equipped for this job...All I hear is her parroting...

What’s the point of having the second amendment if we didn’t exercise it after Betsy Devos was confirmed?

She is second person in this administration for whome i think their Dad should have wore 2 layers of condoms and should have prevented birth of these satans. I feel so sorry for god that he has to create these morons and let them live so long.

Orange should send his son to public school in florida. Problem solved.

This might have been already asked so apologies in advance, but has anyone gone back to public/advisory from industry? Or should I persue advisory first and then private accounting if it doesn’t seem like a good fit?
