Get an Au pair. Need to outsource some of the fun time. I have 5 kids in the house and all the adults rotate responsibilities including grand parents. We are all totally mentally exhausted. Getting an au pair and a baby sitter. Good luck🍀

True M1, but a Night Nurse isn’t live-in, and there are alternatives to 24 hour help. If OP can afford it, I think it’s worth his and his wife’s sanity. I think the point is that the world of single-income households with a 40-hour work week is long gone, so don’t hold yourself to the same standards as past generations. Plenty of grandmas and grandpas chime in with “back in my day, we didn’t do/have XYZ” but their world was very different. Don’t feel guilty for coping however you have to.

Ok - I’m in this situation as well. Have you invested in a Snoo? It’s a game changer for sleep. Have you thought of splitting sleeping time with your wife - one got early one go late and potentially in a spare room to get uninterrupted sleep. Mind you it depends on the sleep of the baby?? How is that?

My husband and I rotated evenings, or he’s sleep 9-2 and I’d get 2-6, etc.

Worked from home to make sure I am part of the experience. Losing sleep is annoying but I wasn’t going to miss out. Yes, my performance at work wasn’t great (distracted, missed deadlines...), in hind sight, I made dame right choice.

Depends if you’re a night or morning person. I took everything after 3am and would just stay up. Then, I did a workout late afternoon to keep energy up. Avoid caffeine if you can. It just makes the crash harder.

Why do previous generations feel the need to belittle the hard work of younger people? My parents always insist they used to put in as many hours as I do when they were my age, but I know it’s not true because I was actually old enough to remember it! (They could afford having a kid. I can’t)

Should we move to a cheaper city like Phoenix so we have a big house for cheap and 2 home offices. Am I missing anything?

Friend runs a company and hired a VP of Sales to help grow the business. Guy got some relocation $ and was supposed to start 2 months ago. Ever since he said his kid had an accident and from that point on kept pushing the start date back claiming he has to do something related to the accident. He hasn’t sent any proof to HR, has been requested twice claims he will but then doesn’t. And has pushed his start date back half a dozen times. How should I advice him to proceed?
