I think our mistake is to assume these people care about the economy or the country. They would gladly sink this country just for a fee dollars more. Kansas being bankrupt is not a bug but a feature of their system.
Then they follow that by engaging in voter suppression, gerrymandering, and hate mongering to stay in power. In Kansas they overplayed their hand but still made off richer than they started.
@Cap1 I'm from there, and everyone is elated.
Turns out that sprinkling distilled Paul Ryan juice all over a state’s wealthy voters doesn’t somehow magically help everyone after all. Time to start undoing the damage with a Dem at the helm (of a state Trump won by more than 20 points).
Few states have had a better look at what the modern GOP really is––and they don’t want any more of it.
Lol. The GOP “experiment” (Brownback‘s exact word) demolished the state. Record deficits, low growth rates, underfunded schools, obliterated public services, awful healthcare outcomes... in exchange for business that never came because the state was in such rough shape.
Ending that is, on balance, a really good outcome for Kansans. The fact that a few rich people are sad that they’ll have to be taxed at not-batshit-insane levels is not what we meant when we talked about people’s lives being worse.
However, if your relatives really don’t like the idea that Kansans might get healthcare and public services, I’m sure they could move down to Alabama or Mississippi!
For example: Gov. Kelly plans to immediately re-protect LGBT state employees from discrimination. Now, I’m not gay or Kansan, but because I’m not an asshole I believe that this is an unambiguously good thing.

Cap, you see, unlike you and conservatives we actually celebrate when people unrelated to us are seeing a positive improvement to their lives
Question is, who is John Galt?
These fend for yourself Ayn Rands will still defend themselves
Yeah, fair point. Man, that’s depressing.
“Defend themselves” against what? The 70 million Hondurans and Sharia that goes into effect at midnight on 1/3/19?
Question is do any of you reveling in the election results for Kansas actually live there or have family that live there. Or is this just another gloat fest for a Dem win for which you have no personal stake in the game or knowledge of outside your chosen media sources? Personally I grew up there and have friends and family still living there. None of them are that happy with the results.
Oh, it’s a huge gloat fest, Cap1. I know a few people in Kansas who are really happy about it because Brownback and his Ayn Rand BS destroyed their state, but I’d still have posted this if I didn’t. I’ll always celebrate the defeat of damaging ideologies that hurt a lot of people, whether it’s in my state or not.
A1. But people directly related to me see this as a bad result.
Cap, any particular reason why they see it as a bad result?
Someone *really* hates architects...
