Amaro. You can add it to basically anything (even cheap beer) and have it taste like a cocktail with 10+ ingredients.
Totally agree, Assoc. 1

It's coronavirus time. As much alcohol as you can afford is the correct answer.
Plus fill your fridge with beer, so you can actually drink one bourbon, one scotch, one beer.

This is the cleanest up version of our setup. Well maintained bars are awesome.
Alcohol doesn’t sit very long in there very often. Except when we get gifts. Like I think there’s a bottle of Malibu rum in there since 2011. But the fancier stuff stays. I have a bottle of some limited crown royal that’s selling for over $500 now that I won’t drink or sell quite yet.
Fav bourbon? Elijah Craig barrel proof.
You need a decent bourbon for sure. Buffalo Trace is a good pick. And Angostura bitters.
You missing flying? Alcohol cart? You need 50ml bottles of Johnny Walker red, Smirnoff red, Bacardi and Gordon’s gin.

2 main points:
1: your selection is less about choice and more about sharing your collection with guests. Care about what you are serving is better than volume or price.
2: if possible, have a ‘show off’ collection and a ‘burner’ collection. Basically a nice top shelf to show you are classy but also some ok stuff to get ruined on.
If you’d like a few tips: top shelf: least 2 proper Scotch Whiskies. Every else is a bonus. If you live in America, also get a good example of the local liquor (e.g. Bourbon). Hendrick’s Gin is a solid choice. Vermouth, a nice vodka, a non trashy rum, and tequila is also classy. Ice (obviously) and lemon, lime, and cucumber (for the Hendrick’s).
If guests prefer wine you should have chilled white wine and cellar temperature red wine (again, two of each in case guests don’t prefer what is offered).
Bottom shelf: something alcoholic with a low enough amount of meth that it is still legal.
Appears well-stocked but most of these are 2/3 empty hehe
Is that like 1/3 full?
Don’t forget about bitters. Gotta have bitters. Have some mixers as well. I also keep a couple of bottles of aperitifs and digestifs on deck. Keep a regular supply of club soda, tonic water, and lime juice too.
Second bitters

Vermouth
I second this. Vermouths are in many great cocktails and is relatively cheap. One thing I recently learned - vermouth is pretty much wine, and it goes bad quickly. Keep it in the fridge and it will stay good for a month or two tops.
Which alcohol cart? I'm trying to find a small one for my apt
Check out wayfair! That’s where I bought mine

Why did you buy an alcohol cart and not know what to put in it?

Is that like instacart
I’d recommend redemption bourbon for old fashioned and whiskey sours. For tequila based cocktails I’d recommend epsilon tequila blanco.

Grey goose pear to make delicious cocktails with seltzer and lime, Zacapa rum (if you don’t know, thank me later), Titos so you can make a mean bloody marry, Scotch because why not, you need some fine bottles of tequila because Cinco de Mayo is coming up...Prosecco for Sunday mimosas..Don Perignon champagne to celebrate the end of the quarantine
Gin, sweet vermouth, dry vermouth, white rum, orange liqueur (cointreau is my go to), bourbon, angostura bitters. Get some sugar to make your own simple syrup and you have a lot to play with. Two personal faves but not essentials are Campari and mezcal
Another non-essential but one that’s great for cocktails is rye whiskey. The spice adds a nice dimension.
I never make it past beefeater, diet Schweppes tonic water, and the lemon/lime Mío sport. Love that stuff.
Cynar, Campari and Angostura Bitters. 3 things a good liquor cab these days shouldn’t be without.
Agree on the Campari and bitters. Nice wild card is St Germain - put a little in champagne or make it into a spritz for brunch and it’s 👌🏼. Also consider some nice glassware or bar tools to have on deck. Copper mugs, good rocks glasses and some coupes will be a good start. A shaker/strainer and a bar spoon will also be helpful. Enjoy! My bar cart is currently the emptiest it’s ever been. 😬
