Just came back from 6 mos of maternity leave and I feel all over the place. I’m unorganized, scatter brained, and feel like the wheels just aren’t cranking. Any tips on how to get back to where I was?

Girl, I had forgotten how to dial into a conference line.. don’t take it too hard on yourself.

I’ve been back since May and I still feel like that everyday. You have to take one day at a time and one task at a time. Give yourself some grace and ease back into the swing of things. I’m not going to lie - the transition back is hard but you will develop your new normal

12 months back and still feel the same ....hang in there and don’t be so hard on yourself, remember that your body just grew a baby and has been feeding it!

Thanks everyone. Just hearing other folks that have been there really helps. I have apparently lost the ability to focus and organize my day. Spent the day doing a bunch of stuff and accomplishing nothing. Helps to know this is common and to take each day one at a time

D4 - dealing w the same. Came back 10 months ago prego again and just so worn out and out of it. I feel like I’m running on fumes and nothing computers anymore

Keep a post it note on your laptop or sticky note on desktop to track all the random things you need to do (even if disorganized), helps with the not remembering at least. If time allows, taking 5-10 mins to walk or get fresh air can help you re-group before coming back to your computer to focus. I also occasionally will close my Outlook/company IM service for 30-60 minutes at a time to review or crank stuff out without getting distracted by notifications for other things. Good luck it gets easier :)

It will get better. Give yourself creator for jumping back in. When I just came back from my maternity leave a found it helpful to focus on a few things and crushing them so that I had that extra motivation to keep going. You will fund you own rhythm, but to do so you need something to keep you going - I force myself to carve out 1 hour 3 times a day super early to get to the gym - helps me to keep going.

Pregnancy brain is real. I believe my ability to remember things got worse after each child. I honestly can’t say it has gotten back to where it was before being pregnant. You may want to look at an energy shot product - Isagenix sells e+ energy shot. It helps to give you energy while maintaining focus without the caffeine twitch.

Write everything down, plan your day as much as you can. Sometimes it helps to tell others how you’re feeling, but can also backfire. I tried not to say too much because then my manager seemed to expect more mistakes from me.

Give yourself a little bit of time to get reacclimated to bring back at work. Your team should understand you’re trying to get back into the swing of things.

Cut yourself some slack and connect with people who get it. My network was super understanding

I'm 16 weeks pregnant (1st time). My office (in NYC) is re-starting back to work in 2 weeks. I previously had an exemption for fertility treatments as exemptions were given for any medical reason. Now there are no more exemptions being given & I would need to request one from my LoB head.

I have a new team whom I have never met & if I don't go back now, I wont see them until Dec. I am boosted but my commute is about an hour including bus ride & a 25 min walk each way. What would you do?

I (36F) am married to another woman (34F) and we have a baby (5moF). We split all childcare, cleaning, meal prep, errands etc fairly evenly and it works well. Maybe she cooks more than I do bc she likes it, and I clean more bc I need to have a clean house. My friend (35F) recently took a business trip and literally put a binder together with instructions for her husband re: daycare drop off and pick up, what to feed the kids, when to take out the trash and so on. Im a RN and took on a new role working in Home Health. I chose this position because My husband & I recently moved to PA with our 2 kids (1&3), with no family available for his residency program with a hospital. If you know that life, I’m pretty much the main parent for our kids. I don’t want to work in the hospital/floor work anymore; nor do I believe the hrs are flexible enough. I need a job that’s flexible for the kids but pays >$44/hr. Maybe remote or hybrid? Please help w/ suggestions.

After 3 years of dealing with the worst firm I've ever had the displeasure of working for, I finally landed my dream gig at a small specialty firm. The people at the new firm are all SMEs featured in and contributors to the most notable business publications in the world, less than 100 employees, better benefits, unlimimted PTO, doubled my pay and landed a senior role.

Keep looking for what you want and deserve. I'm happy to be forging a better path away from what I've had to endure.

Hi I am a female USDC SS level employee and would be on bench starting from mid September. I have received a generic email from RM stating that work from home is not allowed when on bench and have to come to office from 9am to 5pm. I am a mother of 11 months old and my family already had Covid few months back. Since my kid is very small i am not comfortable sending him to day care. Can anyone suggest how to get approval for work from home during my bench time. I am very much tensed

Mother has a decent nest egg ($3M) and lives in an extremely LCOL area. Currently manages money through RBC, however the fees are a gross operating expense of 0.36%. What do you all recommend? Hi! I’m transitioning into video editing from healthcare and currently in an internship with a small research/strategy firm that does work for big, generally well known companies. I may be able to go full time with them soon (as an editor, not assistant). What would be a good number to open salary negotiation with? I’m making 83k in healthcare, live in DC, and in my early 30s- so I’m hoping to not get low balled like younger entry level folks with less responsibilities might.
