Just curious, anyone in the ecosystem, working for a partner or end user that wouldn’t ideally like to end up at Salesforce itself? Kind of seems like the ultimate goal but curious reasons some wouldn’t want to go there

Don’t want to. It’s the status quo now, and no longer exciting & new.

Salesforce is naturally very Salesforce centric. Delivering Salesforce at Deloitte I have had the chance to work in pure strategy, across many platforms, and overall I think it's been better for my development.

In terms of money and culture, never had any complaints

And again take this with a pinch of salt, as it's more based on a vibe I have from attending conferences/being on calls with AEs but to me Salesforce/AWS look almost cult like.

Personally speaking (and I know lots of people have had good and bad experiences at Deloitte), I prefer the consulting that comes before the platform work, and enjoy considering what is right for customers across many technologies or combinations (including Salesforce), and then aligning a customer to a platform, as opposed to what I hear happens at Salesforce (pushing a square peg through a hole and assuming all customers need Salesforce, with selling licences as the ultimate goal)

As someone who worked at Salesforce prior to Deloitte. What D1 said was exactly my experience at Salesforce.

It’s a cult. Everyone drinks the kool aid and nothing is better. I was in a pre sales role and it was trying to fit a square peg into a round hole day in and day out. The AEs are brutal to work with and will abuse you as a resource.

The biggest complaint I had with a pre sales role was that I wasn’t developing in my career they way I wanted to. You really only work on sales skills. Nothing that we learn in consulting which was the biggest reason for coming back. My only career path was forever SE or become an AE.

I will say working at Salesforce had some pros. Being that close to the product was great. You have access to materials and resources (people) who developed the platform/product. So if you wanted to you could learn from them. Finally most of the Solution Engineers I worked with were excellent and the only thing I miss about the company.

Product and solution engineering at the mothership are great roles but CSG (consulting etc.) is not, unless you're just looking for staff aug project roles and checking out. For all their other faults, there is so much more opportunity to build a network and grow into larger roles at a place like Accenture/Deloitte/Slalom/etc., because CSG is very command-and-control from the VP-level down; directors and below don't get autonomy to make decisions and drive results or make personnel decisions to grow their team. It's also rare to be promoted to VP+ from within at Salesforce (especially starting from an individual contributor role), most of those hires are from the outside. Even if you do get promoted, raises don't match the market and RSU refreshers are rare, so it's a good place to get on the resume for a couple of years, especially if you're close to a CTA, but then move on (or transfer to product or solution engineer).

I admire Salesforce and part of me wants to work for them but there is something holding me back as well. Can’t put my finger on it.

I just turned down an offer at SFDC because they would not match my current market rate pay and they are really limited in offering RSUs.

For me, I have friends who are AEs or on the marketing side at SFHQ, and I know I get way more perks being a partner and customer than an employee, and from what I can tell, I have more earning potential outside. I often partner with the service cloud team on things so I get insider info when I want it!

What’s the general guidance on the order to maximize retirement contributions for tax benefits for an normal individual and for a self employed/small business owner before moving to taxable accounts or alternate vehicles like cash value life policies?
I’ve seen for individual: match trad 401k->match roth 401k->max roth IRA->max trad IRA->max trad 401k->max roth 401k->max HSA
For self employed: max SEP IRA/solo 401k->max roth IRA->max trad IRA->max HSA

Have a question around SF Sales Could Einstein. We are preparing to launch a Pilot with around 65 of our sales reps and managers.

We can't launch all the features due to compliance and configuration issues:
Activity Capture
Analytics App
Automated Contacts

Have any of you launched Einstein?
Was it a success?
Have your teams seen the value?
What KPI's did you use to measure adoption and the validity of the insights generated?

Thanks in advance for your input

Hi Folks,

Total Pkg - 255K(Base - 136K,MBO - 9K,Commision - 49K,RSU - 60K/4year).
Is there any room for negotiation or did I already hit the roofline?
Appreciate the insights. Thanks.
