More often than not, at random. At least in the beginning. What’s great is you can always look to bring a former partner in and really talk up how well you worked together. Win-win-win
A lot of different ways. It’s pretty haphazard usually, but creatives try to find their way to or back to people they like working with and make good work with.

The current one after working with a few different partners in the agency until we decided that we liked working together and asked to be teamed up
My first one was "random" but turns out a friend from ad school had been interviewing at the same time at the same place and we got paired up with each other.
Next one at a new agency was a solo AD who needed a partner. As part of the interview process I went on a "partner date" with him and we got along and boom.
We were the only juniors at the time
