I was listening to part of the Governor Cuomo's daily briefing. A reporter asked him would he reopen schools. His was quite interesting (see comments)

Hmm...so all these parents just want to send their kids into schools do die, right? And kill all the teachers and their families too. All out of pure selfishness.

Confused if parents want schools to reopen or not? I read so many posts here about how difficult it is to work full time and manage kids’ at-home schooling (I can’t even imagine!) so would assume that means parents want to reopen, but at the same time keep seeing a ton of backlash from parents in states who are pushing to reopen due to safety reasons. What’s the general consensus?

What has been the very BEST thing about blended learning for you as a teacher? I have several silver linings.
I very much respect the way my admin. has handled blended learning. We do NOT have to teach students on computers at the same time I teach students in person. The things they do at home are all asynchronous. I get more class participation and much fewer discipline issues.

Have you ever felt peer pressured by your colleagues to teach lessons a certain way? All year 1 teacher on my team made it seem like there was only her way to teach a topic.

Does anyone find themselves teaching live to black screens? it started with one now almost all if not all of my students are turning off their cameras. Do I just have to get used to this? I'd much rather teach to eye contact to know I'm not just talking to myself! Is it just me?

We‘ve had two students who have taken their own lives this school year. We are devastated but are looking for initiatives to implement so that kids feel like they can talk to faculty or staff. Ideas?

I finally tallied up how much I spent on my students this past year...Over $2,300! Is this normal? This isn't sustainable but I also can't just do nothing when my kids can't even afford a coat.

At my school there are buttons being passed out that say, “She/her, he/him they/them.” I have no problem with anyone wearing these buttons but I don’t like feeling pressure to wear one myself. No one is telling me to wear one but people talk about how inclusive it is to wear one and most staff do. I really don’t think I’m being transphobic by not wearing one but I just don’t want to wear one. What is your opinion on this?
