I'm serving notice period in TCS and my last day is in 2 weeks. I requested for pickup of laptop in the portal but I came to know that it will take time for pickup and I won't be available if they come late. So I decided to go to office and surrender the laptop as I'm in the location of office only. Is there a seperate request to be raised for surrender of laptop and how to cancel the existing request for pickup. Please guide.Tata Consultancy

This is really off base. Why would you be more protected than anyone else who has a family, is expecting? How is that fair to those who don’t have or don’t want children?
Your personal life isn’t going to determine if you get laid off or not. Performance, your pay, and politics are going to make the decision.
Also you can totally be laid off while you’re on leave. I’ve known several women to be laid off on maternity leave as part of mass layoffs
This post is the equivalent of this emoji 🥴
Inducing birth to ensure continued income is the kind of story you probably don’t end up telling on birthdays. 😷
There’s a saying I like - ‘if you’re not sat at the table, you’re on the menu’ - HR don’t sit at the table when it comes to lay-offs. It’s your agencies CFO, CEO and department head - your CCO.
The HR bots exist to minimize lawsuits. Your partner being pregnant doesn’t give you protected status so they’ll cut you down where you stand if you’re on the list. Talk to the people who make the list. It isn’t HR.
Our lay-offs last week included a woman who had a baby 2 weeks ago, and a man whose wife had a baby a few days later. No one is safe these days.
You can’t be fired while ON paternity, not after you’ve announced you will be taking paternity at some point.
Once you’re on paternity your job is protected for 12 weeks but protected doesn’t mean paid. They can’t fire you but they don’t have to pay you for that time either. Congratulations btw, tough time to be a parent but you’ll be fine.
Is your wife on bbdo health insurance? Cause a baby be real expensive vs a singleton.
I'm in the same boat. We're due early June. Let's be baby buddies.
I was at an agency a few years ago who had a top creative director whose mom was dying in the hospital. When it was announced she was on the layoff list somebody asked how they could do that at that time. The ECD replied in front of everybody, ‘she’s never here’. Nothing was ever done to change that. She was gone, the ECD continued to work.
I got laid off a while I was being treated for cancer and before my mastectomy. Major holding company agency. No protection. You might get them to pay part of cobra. That’s all I got.
