Out of those 20, I really wanted to get 4. Out of those I had great chances in 2. Got none. I feel miserable and weary and don't know how can I turn this tide. I'm based in a city I hate and that's what drives me towards a new job. I feel like I interviewing for the wrong reasons and (I hate this word) karma knows it and is not letting me get anything.I blame everything that's wrong in my life in this damn city. I'm in a low point right now.
In seriousness though, your luck will turn around. I went through a similar situation last year only I got 5 interviews and one offer to move to my dream city. If you want to chat or just vent, my DM’s just a couple taps away :)
Thank you! I appreciate it :)
I’m sorry about what you’re going through. I know too well the feeling of trying every way you can to get into a new position, a position that you and everyone who talks to you knows that you can do well, but for some reason that no one ever tells you, it just doesn’t ever work out. The thing I try to tell myself is that at some point it’s just a matter of probability. Unless you’re doing something fundamentally wrong - like picking your nose in the interview - it’s just matter of going on more interviews.
You’re right. I think It’s a losing streak I gotta plough through
I’m going through pretty much the exact same thing with a lay-off and a firing both happening in the past six months. It’s really brutal .
Come on now, Toronto’s not that bad!
If you only knew!
Sending you a whole lot of well wishing! I was in a similar boat. It took me 2 years & 2 months after about 15 different interviews. I changed the type of jobs I was going for in this last round & finally had better luck.
Also, in this round of interviews, I made sure to do some active listening and asked relevant questions to what they were saying. Try to share concrete examples of how you do your job to reach goals. Staying humble helps even though that's not how our industry operates! I also didn't talk about how my former agency is laying people off left & right. That would've shown that I was desperate (even though I was!). How're you doing?! How's your search going?
Why are you stuck in a city you hate? Do you have any way to get out of there?
Is it possible that your company could transfer you to one of their other offices (say, like in New York)?
Ack, I’m sorry! Hope you can find something you love.
