Might have to move firms for promotion. Establish intent and timelines with your supervisors
That's a question you needed to ask during the interview stage and do your research like checking LinkedIn. The managers in my company spent about 2-3 years as senior before manager promotion, which I was pleasantly surprised by since it's similar to PA timeline. When I started, I asked for timeline/growth and they said they expect me to aim for manager in 2 years (kinda scary but also exciting too).
If the company is more stagnant, then it could easily take longer. If you don't see upward potential, you'll need to jump to another company. FP&A is a very valued skillset, so I wouldn't be afraid of getting stuck.
This x1000- if the company is stagnant be ready to move on in a few years. I just started a new job and my direct reports are all significantly older than me- they assumed if they just stuck it out they would be promoted, but during that time they’re skills atrophied and they could barely operate at the level they’re in. Stagnation is death.
Do a good job 2-3 years.
