Do not let your current firm know about your offer or that you intend to resign.
Are you pushing your start date with the new firm because of the bonus? I would let them know and ask if they can match it for an earlier start date, because your firm requires you to stay until X date to receive it.
Do you jeopardize anything with the new firm by starting in February? Is the amount of money worth the later start date and hassle of returning to your firm where you have no intentions of staying?
Start date with new firm was always February. I am thinking I may just put off signing the contract with my current firm until new year if possible. Providing enough time for year end bonus, then in first week of January putting in resignation. I want to leave on good terms and something about signing and then resigning 2 weeks later feels worse.
