Can you chill for tonight pls, people are dying in America.

like

Yeah n people r always dying in some part of the world. Not really connected is it

like

PwC1- First and foremost there are separate threads talking about it. And like EY1 mentioned shit happens all around the world. America is not the entire world. Broaden your mind a little

like

Two 5s, two 4s and a 3. I think I can sound entitled for all the work I put in in the last year and a half. I was told I could not get promoted last year cos I came in late into the cycle - understandable. I had to deal with two manager changes on the project and a counselor change cos my first counselor quit. So Manager 1, I think I'm allowed to vent a little

like

3s don't get promoted. Not sure what the question is. You sound very entitled in your post - especially given the market right now.

Coming in as an experienced hire really doesn't mean much. HR can tell you all they want about getting promoted 1st year, moving up the chain quickly.. Etc but I have seen it more often than not where that is NOT the case. It's a tough environment.

like

Are you really using the word "cos" for because... 😂

like

@M1 yes. 3s get promoted.

like

Also I came in from industry half way through the year and still received a promotion... Should have been hired at the higher level and I had a few partners tell me that.

like

Counselor calls me up again today and says "Congratulations you have been promoted. There was a confusion on my end." How do you react to that?? Who in their right mind sets up a year end review meeting with their counselee and not know if they have been promoted or not?

like

Smh, sorry again but glad you were promoted. #ignoranceisnotbliss. Maybe change counselors

like

Op that seems to a clear case for promotion .so is this the second time you din get promoted

like

Sorry to say you're just in a tough industry in a tough year. Force rankings are real and it seems like that is what happened to you. No big firm has any loyalty or emotion for what happened. It's business as usual. So i would recommend moving forward and kicking ass for next performance year - you can not let this get to you or it will affect your performance. If you don't think you can get over it start looking!

like

Partially agree with Manager1. Sorry this happened to you @EY OP but unfortunately this year was a tough one. Regarding the justification of the 3 on a project, don't think it means you're in over your head or that you didn't deserve the senior promo necessarily, just think it was a small number of available promo slots and you didn't get one. When I didn't get promoted I set up calls with M, SMs, PPED I worked for and my CFL and talked about what I could do to position myself for the following year. Continue to work hard but make certain everyone knows what you're doing and feels vested in your success. I wouldn't suggest leaving until you do so, it'll help you as you progress on your career as well.

like

@M1. 3's do get promoted esp M to SM

like

Is it time to quit already??

EY op happened to me as well.came in as experienced hire .3 with no promotion recommended .was there five months for promotion cycle@

Op ignore them.life goes on

EY2 - Did you get aligned to a practice though? I got an early alignment email from a hr. She said it was contingent on my progression to senior. That's what is weird. Another person on my team got a 3 too from the same manager but got promoted to senior. The system is messed up

I was in risk so not sure how that works

Ey6 I was in a similar boat .op and 6, do you guys want to connect ?

Need advice for reconciling between your partners career and your own! My partner has an opportunity for a promotion into management but would mean moving cities. We are already long-distance with eventual plans for him to move to my city, but if he takes this job, we would both move to the new city. Hey everyone. I found out we are expecting our first child and I’m really nervous. I got into consulting one year ago and I’m up for promotion this year. With timing of our performance conversations I would have to inform I’m pregnant before outcomes - then shortly after the promotion effective date I would go on a leave for due date. I’ve worked really hard and I’m worried our wonderful news will throw chances with this :(- also if I don’t get promoted pretty sure it’s up or out. Any advice?

When you are up for a raise do you have a percentage in mind, a number or both? How do you set your expectations? What do you think is fair?

Lol had posted this in an exit opp bowl and got a snarky response, but which would you choose: 1) MBB specialist role in a sector im indifferent to; pre mba level, $145k total comp, opportunity for promotion to post MBA level in January; MBA sponsorship iffy; 2) stay at current T2 firm; guaranteed to be post mba level come fall with ~$170k base + 5-10% bonus; MBA sponsorship guaranteed; firm has had v bad attrition lately; generalist but always placed in same sector as MBB opportunity anyways

Is it okay to spend 3 years at a company and not get a major promotion (I just get the 2-3% yearly raise) or Should I start looking for another job?
