Tell management you found out and that you’re not willing to pay the pink tax for not negotiating hard enough. Ask to be brought in line with them for 2020.
If you didn't negotiate I wouldn't assume bias from the jump. I would just ask to speak with the managing partner amd come prepared with your stats and ask for a big raise that would put you higher. You sell yourself better on your work than pointing at other people. But maybe keep it in your back pocket if they try to low ball you.
Are the other associates men?
one is, two are not. I'm gay and they are all straight, but I live in a state without an ENDA
Don’t go in comparing yourself to others, your pay discussion should revolve around you. Let them know how well you are doing and that you deserve it. You may want to refer to your pay being below market, if it is. I wouldn’t bring up a comparison to the other associates though.
Sit down and write down everything you bring to the table. How do you add value to the company? What did you achieve? Be very specific, preferably with numbers. You may take a few months to create a solid list. Then offer to meet with the manager and present the list with a request for a specific salary increase. Do not mention your colleagues’ reimbursement to the management.
P.s.: I wouldn’t let anyone else in the firm know about any of this and would not discuss my salary with anyone at work.
I would disagree with this last part. Speaking about salary is how you realized you were being underpaid. Silence about salaries only benefits employers who underpay their workers. Obviously be smart about when and with who you discuss your information with, but without those discussions women in particular and minorities more so remain underpaid.
