Ginger ale, they sell anti-nausea bracelets in pharmacy. Maybe write your ob for an anti-nausea script. Also, insurance usually cover acupuncture for morning sickness. I've used acupuncture for other anti-nausea things and it works amazingly well. Congrats and good luck!
Congrats! I told coworkers at 10.5 weeks but I didn't have morning sickness, just bad fatigue in the first trimester (and weird food aversions). If you can get a prescription for diclegis from your doctor, that will help with the sickness (my coworker takes it). If not, look up unisom + B6 for sickness, it has the same key ingredients but you can get it OTC. If you keep getting sick at work, my best advice is to just tell your manager now. There's no harm in telling them early, as it will ease the anxiety of leaving for the bathroom constantly and feeling like you need to hide it.
Congrats OP! So honored to be one of the first ppl to know ☺️
As someone who lives her life nauseous, peppermint tea, pineapple and papaya. Watch when you eat sometimes delaying or eating small meals can help.
Congrats!
Wait you can tell at 12 wks what the gender is??? I didn't know it was that early. I'm at 7 wks and haven't told anyone yet (obviously my husband knows but we haven't told parents). So yes, you guys are the first to know! Thanks for all the tips! Will ask dr about anti nausea options.
Progenity is the big name for the DNA diagnostic test at 12 weeks. Can test for gender, chromosomal abnormalities, etc. as your midwife/doctor about it if interested.
When did you tell coworkers/teammates? I feel like they'll be able to guess soon enough because we eat all meals together and spend so much time together. And, when did you stop travelling?
As for your other questions, I think that that depends on how your pregnancy impacts your health. I have one co-worker who is 6 months pregnant and traveling int'l for client work and another who had to get daily IVs in hospital bc of morning sickness (only happens to 1% of people so don't worry!). I'll let other weigh in. I have not yet been pregnant, but I'd say that you could prob wait at least 3 months. They might not notice as much as you'd think. You could just say that you're hungry from PMS-ing or working out or something. I also think that it depends on your relationship with your team and company.
As far as traveling, I work remote for my project so that isn't an issue yet. You'll have to ask your doc about when they want you to stop flying. You could develop something like high blood pressure and need to stop early or you might be able to fly into your 3rd trimester. See how you feel. If you're getting uncomfortable toward the end, your doc shouldn't have an issue writing a note earlier 🙂
Congrats! Get ginger candy from Trader Joe's or any Asian market. I shared at 12 weeks after the gender/DNA test results came in.
You can find out gender around 10-12 weeks now if you do one of the blood tests that screen for genetic disorders. I think Harmony is one of the big brand names. My doctor didn't offer it to me because I'm too young (28) and don't need the advanced test. The test isn't just for gender, but it is a nice benefit. Two women at work who are pregnant in their 30s found out gender that early bc of the test! I did the standard NT genetic screen at 12 weeks.
