Just found out my grandma has Covid. Her symptoms are mild now but I’ve heard that they can intensify later on for older people. Does anyone have any experience with this and if so, how did it play out?

My grandpa died a week before Christmas 😞 about 12+ days into having symptoms. He was 90 but in great health before. Get her a pulse oximeter and make sure she goes to the hospital if she drops below 90%. See about getting her treated with Remdesivir too if her symptoms worsen. I think it needs to be in the first 7-10 days. Hoping you’re in an area with good hospital capacity 🤞🏻. My grandpa was sent back home the first time he went in because he wasn’t bad enough to meet the requirements to be admitted, which had been adjusted in his state due to limited hospital capacity. Thinking about you and hope you have a better outcome! Stay safe ❤️

I’m sorry to hear about your grandfather. My grandma is currently in a nursing home in Montreal where almost all of the old ladies got infected. I live in Palo Alto so the fact that she is technically international could make it tricky

My grandma died back in July. She was positive but very mild symptoms. Then she had a negative test and symptoms had passed. Then she just started to shut down...there wasn't anything to do, she didn't have breathing problems, it was just to much for her. I hope you don't experience the same

I’m very sorry to hear that. This sounds similar to something that happened to one of my neighbor’s friend’s mom. She was a healthy woman in her late 30s/early 40s without any known health conditions whose immune system just collapsed one day. This virus is definitely scary 😟

WHY are we so nasty and vindictive to each other? Got an entire 30 day block from Blacks In Tech for pointing out that a conversation about the COVID-19 vax did not begin from a respectful place. IMO starting a respectful convo on that topic means inviting people to share their “reasons”. This person started the discussion from the angle that Black people have “misconceptions” - which plays into the narrative that we are too dumb to evaluate the info and land on a decision which is right for us.

Took LOA last year, multiple months. Recovered from burnout driven by long hours during covid. But feel like I'm now experiencing burnout in a different form. Don't feel drained but I'm just unmotivated to do anything in life and work. I don't want to eat, exercise, go places, or work. I don't want another break from work, I want to keep doing things (eg not so drained I want to take months off) but this seems like burnout and I don't know what to do.

Our district does not give sick days if a teacher has Covid so if a teacher tests positive, that teacher must use his or her own sick days. If a teacher gets Covid or tests positive, 10+ sick days are gone because of district policy. Some teachers have lost 20-30 days because they tested positive 2-3 times even though they have no symptoms. Because of this, some teachers have stated they will not test and will just come to school unless their symptoms are too severe.

Just moved to a new city with a high COL for a job in a V10-20 firm. But we are still remote with no guidance on coming back. Partners conditioned my acceptance on relocating but it doesn’t seem necessary. I feel really isolated and don’t know anyone, and it’s difficult finding time to meet people obviously. I’m concerned about my mental well-being going forward. On a first year salary but live in a 1 room studio due to COL. Is this worth considering a lateral by next year? Thanks all.
