Congrats! I announced at 13 weeks. I told HR first and discussed maternity leave, etc. with them. They told me that they would keep the news confidential until I was ready to tell others at my firm. I ended up telling my boss the following week.
You’re welcome! I also asked for an accommodation to work from home full time during the pregnancy. It’s a reasonable accommodation given the risks of Covid to you and the baby and everything else you’re going through. Just throwing that out there since you’re struggling with nausea — can’t hurt to ask HR!
Congratulations! Maybe you’ve already announced, but FWIW, I was in a similar position and I announced at 12 weeks. I work at a small firm and told the female named partner first. I debated whether to tell our HR director first or not and get more information about the exact policies etc. But I ultimately changed my approach because the firm is so small. Luckily, everyone was very excited and receptive. After I told the partner, I reached out to HR for any information I needed to clarify the maternity leave policy. Was such a relief to announce though!
