Just got a great offer from a startup that advised me to start ASAP because of equity. I was expecting a promotion in march and was planning on leaving after for my resume- is it worth staying for?

Nope. No promotion is guaranteed and it sounds like this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Take the offer and be on your merry way.

like

Nope. Odds are you won't get that promotion til later anyway. just pull the trigger now.

Don't wait

That’s some good underscore use there SR1

I don't understand - isn't the purpose of grooming the resume _TO HELP GET THE NEXT JOB_?

An offer is not an offer, just like a promotion is not a promotion, until you got the papers. Go for what's real. Now.

like

Also, why ASAP because of equity? Are they going public within two weeks? Or is this like an infomercial FOMO kind of "Act Now!"?

like

Too many unknowns. Follow your gut and not what a bunch of us on here with zero knowledge of or stake in your life say.

like

I did the same after only 7 months at another big name agency. Was worth it. And it was even easier to jump back to adland when said startup failed a few years later

like

Leave R/GA. Place is sinking.

like

A promotion is never guaranteed, but neither is a startup going public. Any % of $0 is still $0.

like

With upcoming layoffs do you want to really risk a great opportunity like this?

like

Equity is a gamble. But it's the only way to make money in a holding company dominated business. If you feel like you can help drive it forward, then make the leap. I did it. Best move I ever made.

Our district is so lax on the students this year. With tech issues and distance learning days, we’ve gone from accommodating to enabling real quick. No penalties for late work, taking excuses for attendance, lower academic and behavioral standards... We were beginning to make so much progress on transforming our school culture, but this year is erasing that and then some. Is anyone else concerned about how to raise the expectations and students’ self-discipline back to pre-enabling levels?

A former client director colleague has gone in-house as CMO. They are now asking me (currently ECD) to join and set up an agency-like creative team to up-level everything from brand to sales materials. It's a good mgmt opp and good creative is a definite possibility, but I'm conflicted. Aency BS would be nice to step away from, but I think I'm still bought into the notion that agencies are superior and in-house is where washed-up creatives go to die. What is considered a “large” caseload in employment litigation? I work at a large L&E boutique law firm and handling about 14-15 active litigation cases in state/federal court or arbitration. Some of these matters are multi-plaintiff and multi-defendant cases, but none are class actions. This does not include any matters I am handling in the charge stage or in pre-litigation. Not sure if that’s a typical caseload or not?
