If you’re working close to SeaTac you can find cheaper places on south side and also better commute
Your budget and work location work best for south Seattle and Tacoma.
I ws going to suggest Tacoma as well. Housing is really high here in my opinion so its sometimes hard to find something in that budget.
Another perspective: I think you can make it work in Cap Hill! I lived there for 3 years. Call Rubix at 206.467.4846 and ask about the "vintage building" (there aren't pics of it online - it's 80s and kind of dumpy). When I moved out of there a year ago they were making nosies about raising the rent (up from $1400 for a one bed) but can't hurt to ask.
Otherwise, you might need a roommate if your budget is 1600. IMO worth a roommate to live in the city vs. one of the boring suburbs near SeaTac.
My other piece of advice is to come up here and apartment hunt in person through Craigslist and Apartments.com, where you'll find small time landlords vs. big property management companies (think: better deals).
If you’re working near SeaTac, you’d be better off finding an apartment in South Seattle or Tacoma
Why not live further South even Tacoma, way more affordable.
