WOULD A DRINK HELP?
By going back in our own drinking histories, we could show that years before we realized it we were out of control, that our drinking even then was no mere habit, that it was indeed the beginning of a fatal progression.

Rule number 1 of negotiation, never give a number.
Rule number 2 of negotiation, if you give a number, make sure the lower end of the range should be a number you're happy with.
You could go back to them and simply say that after some research and giving it some thought, you were thinking something along the lines $X amount. They typically expect a negotiation.
You can give them a call if you feel comfortable enough doing so. I think the human element is tough to replicate when communicating digitally.
Just praise the firm and say you're really interested in the role but that you'd be much more comfortable leaving your current role and network if they increased the offer to $X
I think you should just relax. Thousands of people got let go.
It's standard practice for recruiters to offer you the bottom of what range you said. They need to justify their pay somehow
And that's why the bottom of the range should be something you are comfortable with. Not the minimum.
Is there harm in simply saying to the recruiter the same words you just typed above? You were expecting more salary, and you’re concerned about lack of bonuses
Just went through this a few weeks ago. Gave a range and the recruiter offered the lowest of that range. Negotiated and got the highest in my range. My advice would be to just negotiate and have some supporting items to back up why you deserve more. I ended up getting 12k more than what was initially offered which is 25k more than what I was making previously. Good luck!

Congrats! If you gave a range, the recruiter will assume any amount in the range is ok with you and will likely pick the lowest.
The best thing to do now is ask the recruiter what someone if your level should expect for a bonus and see if that is up to your expectation, then negotiate from there with support for why - worst thing they can do is say no
