Recommend finding areas you’re passionate about and becoming the go-to person for those. You’ll need that for your brand at your T2 anyway, but it will pay dividends for interviews as well. Maybe it’s rare disease specialty, or hot newer areas like sustainability. Or nascent/emerging tech like web3. Your T2 should be a great platform to build yourself out in something that is ideally in demand, not over saturated with competition, and also an interest area for you. A lot of people never build out anything that interesting and just do generic strat work in an industry. Nothing wrong with that if you’re good, but there will always be more competition if you’re just doing standard generalist work and not doing anything to stand out. And then maybe brands do matter more as tie breakers.
