Just got bombed my second round FDD assessment exam. Totally blew my chance with moving forward, which is OK. Up next, I’m talking to EY about a strategy & transactions associate position. Can anyone give me some tips on the interview process for SaT? Or any advice at all as I go forward with other interviews? I was really excited about this FDD role until I bombed the assessment. Now I feel like I’m not cut out for anything. Open to any advice. Thank you for your time.

I bombed the KPMG one. I got a referral and was told it would only be behavioral questions. I even memorized that PwC FDD deck so I was able to explain why FDD and the three reports. 5 min into the interview and BAM, asking questions I knew nothing about. Felt like an idiot, but it is what it is lol

Hi - Also in this process currently and was wondering if you’d be able to provide insight on the questions asked and overall how the interview went.

What was the assessment

SaT at EY is FDD basically. Everyone uses a dif name but it’s all the same thing

like

My process was chill. But I’m coming from FDD. They mainly asked about my experience. I also didn’t get the spot so I’m not the best to answer lmao.

Yeah I’m pretty sure all but a couple staff would have bombed that. The ones who wouldn’t are my few overachievers who are also like getting a CFA and starting an orphanage on the side.

Hello Fam Law attys!

I am in my second year as a attorney, I was a FL paralegal before law school and would eventually like to end up there again. I am in a very small rural area, pretty much only solos, and no FL solos appear to be hiring/expanding at this time.

Do you think experience as a DA or PD would be valuable, with my eye toward a future in FL? Both for the skills gained, and/or as a resume piece?

TY!

I'm currently in a process for senior associate at a Big4. The process began on July, yet between the first and second interview it took like 3-4 weeks. And between the 2nd and 3rd like 7 weeks. I sent an email to HR during those weeks asking for an update and didn't have an answer. Then it a 3rd one was scheduled three times (the manager didn't connect to the first 2) and next week I have the last interview with 1 partner. Is the timing normal? Or were they looking for other candidates or what?

Does AWS really only offer 2 weeks of PTO when you start?

The Way to a Higher Salary? Leave.

If I had stayed in the role I was in originally and grown with it, I’d be making maybe $120k, best case. I also wouldn’t have broken 6-figures in under 4 years by waiting.

The biggest lie that companies tell you is you can grow in a firm, both professionally and financially. The only ones that grow are already the people a) getting the promotions, or b) on the sales side.

If neither applies to you, the fastest way to achieve salary growth is to leave.

Currently I work for a small company that does the construction of small cell utility poles and roof top sites for the major cell carriers like VZW, T-mobile, AT&T and so on. I am a project coordinator but I do everything under the sun. Created project tracker. Submitti bids, sourcing material, negotiating price on materials, handling post construction inspections, scheduling sub contractors, notifying stakeholders, coordinating with construction managers - property owners - building management.

Looking for opportunities in the proposal management and deal desk sales operations role. Please let me know if you know any.

Not sure if this has been asked before but what are your billable expectations, what year are you, and what size firm are you at?

I have been lurking on fishbowl for a bit and it seems that my billable expectations at my small firm are too high (1850). I don’t hit them but neither does anyone else including senior associates / partners. Anyways, my boss is using that as an excuse to not give me a raise - so any insight you could provide would be helpful!

Any thoughts around how to use M&A tax skills for the better good? is it worth it to shift to IB or MBB after 7 years in the big four(audit and fdd)? I do think IB and MBB are interesting fields that you can acquire unique skill sets and a good network. But I don’t think I couldn’t keep up already for a daily grind. The reason why I did not pursue it earlier in my career is that I am not from a target school and I do not have an MBA. lol thoughts?

Lots of talk about CohnReznick on here lately… let’s address a few points.

1) Yes, our salaries are in line with B4. Happy to discuss specifics with the skeptics.
2) We are one of the few firms still actively hiring people without FDD experience.
3) Our WLB is miles better than B4.
4) Yes, we are paying strong referral bonuses because our practice has literally doubled in the past year.
5) All of the above is due to a strong pipeline and significant growth within the practice.
