Just got diagnosed at 24. I’m always a little weary of taking new medicines as I have dealt with increased anxiety the past two years. How do low doses of vyvanse make you feel? Does your heart race by a lot?

Adderall helped my anxiety since it was driven by being overwhelmed with everything I had to do all the time. Even my other anxiety reduced since I had more emotional energy for life’s real problems vs crying over work.

I’ve found that vyvanse is a lot more smoother (yet longer lasting) compared to adderall.

What’s your mg?

20mg. Thank you for the info :)

I think the side effects are worse in the beginning and it slowly gets better. I wasn’t doing it correctly at first. I think I was taking 10 mg adderall twice a week and I hated it so much, I was very irregular with it. After a a couple of months or so of trying different medications, I went back to adderall and my side effects improved a lot. There are some side effects that I still get (suppressed appetite, lighter sleep, cold hands, dry mouth), but overall much better.

And my anxiety is way lower when I take adderall now

Update for everyone:

Took half this morning (my doc told me it was fine, to see how I feel on it) and wow did I feel like myself again! I’ll definitely take the full pill next time as focus wasn’t amazing, but even from taking half, I noticed the world felt much clearer. It was like putting on glasses after having blurry vision for so long.

Vyvanse could make your heart race the first few times you take it but after that it levels out. My resting heart rates has been as low as 68 on it. I take two break days a week to avoid developing a tolerance so I've been at 30mg for about a year. It's longer release so I take my breaks on Wednesdays/Thursdays and Sundays. I also take an extended break periodically

i have anxiety / depression and take lexapro for that, and 30 mg vyvanse has been fine, no anxiety yet! i’m actually increasing to 40mg next fill

I recently started Adderall and as someone who also has reservations about taking medication, it’s going well. I’m also on a low dosage, 5 mg twice a day and going up to 15 mg twice a day. Like D1 said, I’ve also heard that Vyvanse isn’t that intense.

I grabbed dinner with a friend during restaurant week (first time in ages!) and completely blacked out/fell on the floor waiting for dessert. Medics who arrived said my vitals were fine. The only thing I did differently was have a couple glasses of wine (first intake since NYE). Has this happened to you and do you know the cause? I’m getting a full physical with blood work. In retrospect, I’m glad I was out when this happened instead of alone at my place.

Long one - one of my best friends (10+ years) and I had a drink last week, I told her of my recent ADHD diagnosis and how we had noticed the generational trend (my mum & grandad as very similar symptoms wise and they acknowledge this, but not diagnosed). The friend mentioned her therapist has suggested she may had ADHD (inattentive type) - she then told me a few things like how she's absolutely neurotypical and she's never associated herself with neurodiversity etc, she made a ... When I was diagnosed, I struggled to find any info out there on adults and workplace etc. Thinking of setting up just a blog space for people’s stories, anonymously. If anyone’s happy to tell their story or an experience that might be useful lmk. Happy to provide a framework of questions so you don’t have to write a think piece... could be how it impacts work, advances your work, learnings from medication, learnings from stress, how you tell people, etc - anything that could help others!

Has anybody had experience "discovering" themselves and how did you do it?

I don't know if this is the ADHD but I've been at my firm for a year and not one day have I woken up with motivation to go above and beyond the bare minimum. I haven't been passionate or interested in any project I've been on. Outside of work, I have a few small hobbies but nothing I'd consider a true passion. Everybody says "just find a job in something you like" but idk if I like anything enough to make it a career!

Does anyone here take concerta and struggle with the “concerta crash” as the medicine wears off? Hello to anyone who joins!

As I am moving up the ladder, I am finding my executive functioning skills are not able to keep up. I struggle to take initiative, organize and complete non project work— BD, training or even connecting with my sponsor partner. I procrastinate & then it is too late. It has gotten worse after becoming a mom. I felt I had to work incredibly hard for my SM promotion compared to my peers. How do you all cope with this? Or is it time to quit consulting?
