👀👀👀 Where all my Phoenix consultants at?
Welcome to adult hood? There will be a lot more “No’s” than “Yes’s” and you need to accept this. Keep trying.
I agree. Here are some more sensitive subject line options for them to use next time:
***Congrats! You did not not not not get the job. Not. ***
***Great news! Participation trophy enclosed.***
***You have CANCER!!! …Kidding. You just didn’t get the job.***
Eh. These notes are hard to write. I was trying to carefully and kindly reject an applicant on the phone and she interrupted me with “Are you gonna hire me or not?” Some people want hand holding, some people want the facts.
But if you can pen the ultimate one-size fits all rejection letter (sometimes I get 100 applications a day, so I can’t write personalized ones for time restrictions) , I’d be happy to start using it!
Keep looking - you’ll find the right opportunity for you!
There will be more jobs that you will want in the future, so don't worry. When this happens, I always say to myself that it is better to be somewhere where they want you instead of where they don't want you.

RA was a bit blunt but correct.
I do think it's a bit odd to use that subject line, but ultimately the content of the email is the same. Rejection is scary and demoralizing and anxiety-producing, but also sadly part of the process. Keep in mind that you are not alone. Millions of people, including students, are applying for jobs right now and each time there are many candidates for just one role. By definition, 99% of people get rejected and 1 gets the job.
Keep trying and try not to get discouraged. You're getting great practice and learning about lots of companies and roles and that will serve you wherever you end up. And you will end up somewhere.
Thank you so much for those A1 alternatives and for my participation trophy! Here’s your cookie 🍪
I'm with you- I don't find that subject line very productive. Simply "Following Up" or something of that nature would suffice and then the rejection could come in the body of the email. But yeah that totally sucks, I'm sorry.
Would it kill them to at least sugarcoat it a tad bit? Ah well, I guess that's just how adulting works. There's plenty more where that came from, but I assure you there's even more success down the line!
I guess that would be better than giving false hope, right? Imagine reading a nice subject only to drop you at the end of the letter. Well, at least they responded. Other companies take time to respond (some don't) so you will no longer live in agony waiting for the result. Don't be discouraged, OP. You will surely land a good job :)
Direct feedback is the most generous type of feedback. Their direct email means they weren't giving you false hope or leading you on. Welcome to the real world. It only gets worse from here. (JK the real world is great but definitely blunt!)
I know how that feels. It's just important to not take it personally. The perfect role for you is coming.
