File for unemployment ASAP. If you commute, make sure you file in the right state. In my case (life in NJ and worked in NY) filing in NY gets you paid UI in just a week or two.
Sorry to hear! Which company?
Update your CV, get it proofread. Amazon has many positions open. Apply to the latest ones.
No one will hold this against you. People will understand and a lot of companies have positions open specifically for people whose jobs were affected by COVID

Sorry! Did you already sign the separation agreement? If not, then wait and craft a response to them citing reasons you need “x” months severance. See if they can extend your insurance with the severance as well.
Once you have negotiated your severance and separation you can file for unemployment but you can’t receive both severance and UE at the same time.
Maybe take the weekend to relax and FaceTime with friends then on Monday put a plan together that includes networking, applying to jobs etc.
Ditto this. Depending on your specific circumstances, if you believe you are entitled to significantly more severance than they are offering (because you have potential legal claims against the company or because you contributed a lot to the bottom line), you can hire an attorney to write a letter requesting additional severance on your behalf. At my company, we take attorney letters more seriously than letters from the terminated employee. It may not be the same for you, but something to consider. We’ve more than doubled severance payments in response to attorney letters.

First, you are going to recover and feeling down right now is temporary and natural.
Second, prioritize tactical over strategic actions initially. Review your financial and physical needs. File for unemployment. Do any medical appointments you will want and can do. Cancel recurring expenses you won't need. That type of thing.
Then, start to think strategically about what you want to do next and medium term. This is not a "blessing in disguise", but it is a time to think about where you want to go.
Stay engaged with people that are supportive. Including using us here to bounce ideas off of.
I've worked for 12 companies with 4 different careers. Been fired and had to fire. This is a bump, a serious one, but not disabling.]
Ditto this.
Keep your routines and don’t make any drastic decisions (unless you must for financial reasons). Cast a wide net and see what you catch. Important to secure the first offer in the next 6 months and this will lead to more and better options. Also important to find people to rant with and stay socially active with, even virtually. And most importantly, don’t blame yourself. This has nothing to do with you.
A year from now, the only thing you will think is how these sleepless nights and worries stressed you out unnecessarily and how distant a memory all that appears. Stay strong!
Edit - should have specified I’m from Canada.

Don’t feel bad 30 million people in the country have been laid off. This is an awful situation and you’ll land on your feet

I’m sorry OP! Better things will come around!

File for unemployment OP and take a few days to just relax! It’ll get better
I'm sorry to hear! But you'll get through this! I've seen more hiring posts on LinkedIn than I expected, so you have hope!
Sorry to hear! Make sure to get information on your medical benefits. When will it end, etc. They will offer cobra, which usually very high but should provide a marketplace to research other options. One unfortunate note, unless severance was prenegotiated in your original offer letter, know that's its optional for the company to provide it and because of the times, they will probably be very stiff on any negotiations.
Sorry to hear that OP. Hoping better things come your way 🙏
You can take a few days to feel bad for yourself (but maybe don’t feel too bad since it was the economy and not your performance that caused this). Try to bounce back quickly after that so you present well when you’re looking for a new job.
Good luck OP!
Apply for unemployment ASAP, America seems to be throwing caution to the wind and semi-reopening in every state within a month or so, at that point I’d assume more work will become available (but still less than prior to the crash)
OP here’s what you could do:
1. Relax and know this too shall pass
2. Understand what you want to do next
3. Update your CV and LinkedIn
4. Till you get anything else, start something on the side
