Let's cool it with the layoff threads team. Consulting is up or out and the business model depends on 15-20% churn to work. Unless you're seeing 1 in 5 people quitting expect some firings every year
If you've recently been laid off or furloughed and we've worked together in the past or I know you personally, don't hesitate to get in touch and let me know so I feel better knowing I’m employed and you’re not - Can I put you in touch with sleazy recruiters? - Can I write a LinkedIn recommendation for you since those help land high paying jobs? I copied this post from a connection, and I encourage others to copy it from me. You are in this alone.
Would you choose an investment job at a private, partner-owned long only fund where you’re guaranteed to never lose your job& can be a multimillionaire; or at a very top L/S HF where the bottom performers are fired each year, but you could make multimillions in a good year? Another related q, would you forego the offer at the first place to potentially get the offer at the second place, knowing it’s very competitive? Assume you’re target background, at another top fund, good work ethics
Hey guys I also got laid off at D. 1 year experience as a BTA>S&A>CCG. Would anybody mind helping a mate out with any referrals? Would love to discuss over DM. Appreciate your help, thank you so much!
What's up with all of the Deloitte S&O layoffs? So far they have all claimed to be performance related, but there seems to be too many. Anyone know what's up?
Somewhat of a recent hire - how hard is it to transfer into a different practice in consulting? Will I get fired for asking?
For those who have been laid off - have any of you thought or actively tried to pivot into a new career/field?
Deloitte had an impact on me and several colleagues that they laid off #impactday #impactwhatmatters
Today’s headline: 3.9% unemployment. Meanwhile on fishbowl, 5+ posts about people getting laid off in the last 24 hours. What’s going on?
Been laid off for sometime now, I'm worried about getting a job in this market now especially with all the pandemic surrounding us.
Is it easy to go in other big4s right away after being laid off? Has anyone been laid off and then gotten into another big4?
I hate that I can’t just enjoy a quiet period instead of feeling like it means I’m about to get laid off
Saturday marked 14 years since I was fired and started my own agency. Getting fired did not break me then and this pandemic is not going to break me now. Stick with it, everyone.
Finally got my YE! Was hoping to at least get a 3 after hearing about all the layoffs and the 4's going around. Got a 2 and I am EXTREMELY relieved! 🙌🏻🎉 Now I can really start my weekend! 😎🍾
Because of layoffs, I have a new boss for the 4th time in 4 years. My new boss prefers to write new lines as opposed to giving me feedback on what I’ve written. What’s the best way to approach?
Hey fishes - I got laid off from my FT job which in a way was a blessing, bc I’ve been wanting to go freelance for years. I’ve been interviewing like crazy since Nov., but nothing has stuck. How long did it take for you to get your first contract? Any tips for getting into the freelance life?
Really want to stay WFH for longer, it’s really worked out well for me. Any ideas what companies could be WFH long term ?
Been offered a job in-house. For a tech brand. Could go from a MW salary to an ACD salary overnight. Marketers are all ex-agency, have big ambitions for the work. They have brand partners so briefs wouldn’t all be for 1 brand. Is it worth it this early on in my career? I’d also get stock options on top of huge salary increase.
Hello fishies! Curious to know everyone’s experience with networking during a transition. When chatting with someone who is trying to pivot into a new role, do you find that they often withhold saying anything negative or potential conflicts/challenges about the team dynamic or role itself. Do you find yourself doing this? If so, why? It seems like only benefits the employer and keeps employees in a perpetual state of discomfort. Thanks
Currently work at AWS in Business Intelligence and am looking to transfer into Product Management. Looking at MBB eventually. In my experience, most people from MBB have FAANG as their exit op. Why?

If I leave my current company and join Deloitte, will they be willing to wait 5 months so that I don’t have to give back my signing bonus?
Client and team often compliment me for my awesome work ethic because I'm always last to leave. I'm actually just fighting depression and use work as a way to avoid going home ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Could someone summarize the mapping of MBB role to level at Google they exit to (and comp at each)?
Anyone heard of bridgebio or know anything about the culture? Company mission and goals sound cool, but curious if anyone has an inside scoop
FSO Risk Advisory @EY. Someone that can shine some light on culture in SF/LA offices for this practice? Maybe some of the non-SOX risk management projects/clients? Process & controls role..
Can anyone shine light on what Client Strategy / Account Management roles pay? 3 years of experience, NYC, startups
Thoughts on her email?
General thoughts on switching from consulting to a pre sales solution consultant role at a SAAS tech company? Has anyone here done that? Tired of being sooo in the details in consulting.
Moved here in March with my SO (she’s from here) just before Covid hit and never had a chance to socialize outside of her group of friends. Anyone in a similar situation? Ppl seem very cautious still.
I left EY cyber consulting 2 months ago for a boutique consulting firm. I have realized it was a bad move and now want fo go back. If I reach out to my partner/leadership and start the process , I have couple of questions : 1. There was not much difference between my new pay and what EY would pay after October . Should I ask for hike on that pay ? 2. Since cyber is still hot , should I ask for joining bonus . I wonder if they will pay since I want to go back.
ghSMART - what's your day to day like as a Principal? Where did you come from? Why did you take the job over others? What's your career trajectory? What is the compensation structure?
