How was your HDL? My understanding is that if you have a high HDL, then a high LDL is not necessarily bad. (Note: this is coming from a Joe Rogan pod, so take that with many grains of salt. And do research.)

Genetics could also be at play

like

Oh! My grandfather died of stroke. Maybe you’re right.

like

Probably genetics factoring into it. My husband has a total cholesterol of 89 but is on statins because his bad cholesterol is higher than the good.

like

Omg! My total cholesterol is 200mg/dL which is also within the normal range. What else could I change other than giving up on dairy products. Any recommendations would help.

Cholesterol has a lot to do with genetics. That said, whole fats, fried foods can always be lowered and there is a lot of information about diet that you can google. You can learn whether you would benefit from an aspirin and a statin( the medication which lowers cholesterol) by doing a cardiac risk assessment. Look up cardiac risk score online under ‘cardiac risk’. The primary factors are Total Cholesterol and HDL ( the higher the better) so you will need to know those. It is helpful if you roughly know your blood pressure value. LDL is a calculation not requested in the basic cardiac risk score.

Thank you so much. This gives me some peace as my overall cholesterol 200 mg/dL and HDL 45 mg/dL are in normal range 👍

Isn’t oatmeal supposed to lower cholesterol? It’s also delicious!
