I kind of wanna say something to stir shit up in this thread but I guess I’ll be mindful of what OP went through.
Good for you OP, but I second some of the sentiments in this threads
Yeah say it, lol I think we can handle it
It's been almost a decade since I was medically retired. It started at 60, then 70, then 60 again. I never tried to fight for a higher rating .. I think I should, but the thought of going through the whole process keeps me from doing it.
Ditto
I say good for you - take what you can, give nothing back. Taxation is theft. Epstein didn’t kill himself. Benghazi.
POGs must be offended, just like legs.
I’ve been reduced and increased. 70 - 60 - 90. Now to fight for 100. Too bad I don’t have ez ptsd
Just as an FYI, at 100% many states waive property taxes.
I agree, the rating system doesn't make much sense, but I would say take it. There are people out there that left the military without ever deploying or anything that got crazy high percentage. Many of those same people then used the veteran preference to get GS jobs.
I second McK1..... signed, a Veteran.
I think once you’re 100% total and permanent they don’t review your record ever
Yeah I’ve never heard of the 10yr thing but that could be something...I just thought total meant that was that
How often do the ratings get reviewed or would we need to be re-examined?
I think it was about every 3 years for me. I’ve been out for almost 10 and have been re-evaluated twice, and it’s been about 3/4 years since the last time. I think the rule is that if the rating doesn’t change for 10 years, then it becomes permanent and they don’t re-evaluate you again.
Cadence for ratings re-evaluation? Do you have a meeting or do they just send you a letter?
For anyone that had a reduction, were you still being actively treated for your conditions?
I rely on the VA heavily, but as I’ve found treatment that works, I’m “refilling” more often than going to in person appointments. I am not medically retired, but I was medically discharged (held for 6mon after completion of full tour).
3-5 year cadence typically
I just did a 5yr re-eval, no change. Just got a call out of nowhere that I had a dr. Appointment.
Absolutely they can especially with the changes by adding PTS as something separate from PTSD. If they reevaluate you, you better god damn good and well make it known you have an actual disorder and didn’t just feel stressed out for 6 months so that it overlapped with your ETS/Discharge.
