I am a Principal Solutions Architect with 13 YOE of which 5 years exp is with Biotech focusing on Public Cloud (AWS) & overall AWS exp. 9 years. I need suggestions /opinions if applying for a Senior Solutions Architect (Level6) at AWS makes sense or if I should aim for a Principal SA (level 7) role at AWS with Healthcare & Lifesciences industry experience. If it makes any difference, I worked for AWS ProServe as an external SA in the past. Any insights / feedback appreciated.

You’re young, I’d go with 90% whichever of those funds is closest to sp500 index (prob the vanguard) and the 10% emerging market and let it ride. As you age you can shift into more conservative positions.
Target date funds are probably the simplest. Also pay attention to the fee structures so you don’t get screwed.
Are there no target date mutual funds?
If you’re not going to check it and make changes consistently, just go with one of those so the fund will rebalance itself.
Thank you!!
Since you are young, you can afford to go with some higher risk options to start.
Contra fund has traditionally outperformed the S&P and is a closed fund now to outside retail investors. So I’d consider putting some % into that. Then monitor the mix each quarter to see how they’re performing. For example if you put 20% into contra and after 1 qtr you see it’s at 21%, they means it’s outperforming the other assets. Maybe rebalance every now and then or revisit your mix.
These are my choices. Not really sure what direction I should take. Thank you
Would not recommend bonds given the horizon.
I guess my second question would be, as someone starting out & is completely new to this. What resource would you recommend I use to get myself educated. Currently looking at Morningstar & fishbowl’s advice
No problem. Always happy to help and good to see you’re taking interest in it.
Educating yourself and being disciplined about retirement early will save you a lot of headaches in the future.
