The thing is no matter what firm you go to, it’s rare that you will be working on investigations year round. They are reactionary. There’s always some big event going that fills most of the time, whether that is big AML lookbacks, big post fraud monitorship work, mortgage loan compliance review, large e-discovery email reviews, insurance work, fema work, etc. Those big projects are the flavor of the year and are the bread and butter of big 4 forensics. It depends on what you think “investigations” are. If any of the above sounds like “investigations” then it is probably something you can find right now.
In my experience m, EY is doing the least amount of investigations across the Big4. Not to say the others are year round but definitely more opportunity and over time you build your reputation in a specific area which can be investigations which leads to more work there.
Stay in Big 4 for several years, to build resume/relationship experience before jumping to smaller boutique. Work on developing soft skill sets
Try switching to a boutique. Not sure who is hiring rn but there has to be demand.
Lots of hiring in forensics these days and the work varies across firms.

You have other options other than audit and insurance claims lol. Look outside the Big 4 and to consulting firms like A&M and Alix. I promise you it’s a totally different and far better world
FTI is hiring, message me for a referral
I know we’re looking to fill a few roles at Alix in our forensics and disputes practices, happy to discuss
