I'm thinking about leaving the advertising world for qual research. I love being a strategist but I loath the client BS and the internal agency egos. I found a research company that does interesting bespoke qual that will still allow me to be creative and strategic. Plus an actual life outside of work. But it would mean a 20-40% pay cut. Has anyone ever been in this position or have some advice?
Laid off, what to do next? Advice please.
For all fellow fishbowlers that were laid off, should we create some group to help each other out and use our networks to help out?
Hi. I recently got offered a position for Deloitte USDC model as an analyst. The offer letter states that the tenure of the employment is tied to a certain project although they may retain me if I find another project. Is this something to be worried about? P.S: this is with the Oracle Practice.
Has anyone made a mistake that prevented a deal from closing before? Did the partners blacklisted you from future deals? Did you get fired? So anxious and don’t know what to do…
Unpopular opinion for an SM: I enjoy the strategic, problem solving (whatever that may be: decks, implementation, etc) & team building parts of consulting but I absolutely hate the meetings & client-facing side. I just want to be the SME fixing stuff and don't want to deal with anything else.
Laid off bc of lack of work, told I have a few weeks to find a new job BUT have been getting assigned new projects since then. Wtf do I do?
Got let go today. Re-structuring. There less than 3 months. They are offering me 1 week severance. Thoughts?
Poll Question: which consultant would you rather staff or hire and why? A. Consultant who has worked with the same client for two straight years, above target utilization. B. Consultant who has worked with 8 different clients over two years, above target utilization.
Those who have gone client-side/in house: since this is anonymous can you clear up once and for all--is it more money? A lot more? Thats the rumor but I must say I doubt it (esp with no MBA).
My mom just got laid off today...just got promoted on Friday too...why does this happen😣 all I want to do is fly home and hug my mom
Hi, I am looking for Research Analyst job in Mumbai. Please refer me if there is any vacancy available. I am working as Research Analyst in Merit Software Services and have been laid off due to pandemic situation. Any help is appreciated.
So I love my fiance with all my heart. He's the most patient, caring, loving man. Our wedding is planned for some time end of next year. But he just got recently laid off and doubts started to creep in again. He has always worked, but always in a dead end kind of job. And this job was his first "professional" job and now that's out the window. While I trust in his potential, he's not dumb or anything. He's a bit slow (not very aggressive, quiet). I just keep climbing up the ladder so the gap is
My intern was assigned the role of “strategist” on an intern-project and they asked me “Wait, so I just have think about stuff, I don’t actually have to DO anything??”
I hate that I can’t just enjoy a quiet period instead of feeling like it means I’m about to get laid off
Anyone else have a lingering fear that they could be fired at any moment? I’ve received great performance reviews and my partner says I’m doing very well, but I don’t vibe with my colleagues as well as it seems others do.
If I get laid off during I-485 process, what option do I have? Is the 60-day period still applied? TIA!
What do you do when a client makes a friend request to your fb page?? I hesitate confirming, unless they were friends prior to becoming clients. I keep a boundary.
Which management style do you prefer? 1) My previous Deloitte SM calls me after all client meetings, pings me almost daily in the morning, whatapp me throughout the day, but he constantly provides me feedback and guidance 2) Now in Industry, manager barely replies to my email, only spent 30 mins daily during daily connect. I kinda prefer #1, am I used to micro-managing?
I am a beginner DA user and trying to gain experience. I am trying to do a project on ESG for fun, and having some difficulty coming up with a hypothesis. Want to pick your brains and see if I can get started. I have data about CO2 emisiones, electricity usage, air quality, and that’s pretty much it. Using alteryx and powerbi (to visualize results) as I don’t have any other programs. Thanks so much!
Here’s a perfect example of totalitarianism, from an unelected official no less. You give them a finger, they’ll take the whole arm (and other organs if you’re below a certain age, but let’s leave that discussion for another day. Background: military, medical kept losing my record, received multiple doses of the same thing over and over, even the dreaded Anthrax series. This isn’t about the vaccine or preventing anything, this is about abuse of power and authority.

Am looking to pick out a daycare (pregnant now). What are key factors to keep in mind (besides obvious health and safety)? Proximity to our house? Price? Large center or small and home-run? What do you wish you'd known or paid attention to when picking out a daycare?
Consulting during corona - I’m interesting in switching to consulting and interviewed with a few firms (pre-COVID) and got an offer plus a few offers put on pause. It would be helpful to get clarity on what the industry is like now and if anyone recommends still making the switch or staying put (especially interested in Deloitte, Accenture, PWC, EY human capital practices)
Fired from big law and still unemployed 8 months out. I’m a mid level transactional associate. Is my legal career over?

How are firms handling the economic downturn in terms of billable hour requirements for associates? Are annual billable requirements being updated or mitigated in any way? Curious to see how other firms are handling this issue, and also afraid of not being able to take any time off until 2021 😳
I can hardly handle this stress. Joined recently, fresh grad. Small team, with me being the only full time on the project. I don’t know What to do. Anxiety and panic are building. Any advice?
